En el presente trabajo se proponen tres distribuciones (Pareto, Lognormal y Dagum) para modelar el ingreso de la poblaci ón mexicana, lo anterior se realiz ó desde un enfoque bayesiano dado que en nuestro paí s no existe evidencia alguna de un trabajo con este enfoque. Una vez obtenidos los diferentes par ámetros de manera bayesiana de cada distribuci ón, se opta trabajar con la distribución Dagum ya que esta muestra mejor ajuste a los datos de ingreso en M éxico. Estimation of Gini coefficients for various age groups indicates that Kentucky youth population is at risk. The paper determines the factors affecting youth poverty, employing Zip Code data. Analysis of outcomes provides suggestions for the policymakers to limit youth poverty in Kentucky.

DISPARITIES OF ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITIES AMONG URBAN INDUSTRIES -- AN EXPLORATORY APPROACH AgEcon

The results of an on-going exploratory study focused on disparities in entrepreneurial activities across 203 Metropolitan Statistical Areas among 18 industries in the US showed that there existed variations in the path of entrepreneurial development among MSAs and different industries. Resource allocation, market, policies, and supportive organizations could lead to these variations.

Welfare Decomposition in the Context of the Life Cycle of Farm Operators: What Does a National Survey Reveal? AgEcon

This paper examines the role of the life cycle in impacting the distribution of a combined income and wealth measure using data from the 2001 and 2006 Agricultural Resource Management Survey. Such an assessment is made using both graphical representation of the distribution of the well-being measure along with utilization of the social welfare decomposition procedure. Results show a mild yet statistically insignificant improvement in the distribution of the economic measure over the five-year period. Contribution to social welfare is found highest among the cohort where the age of the head of household is between 45 and 54 years. How do agricultural policies influence farmland concentration? The example of France AgEcon

Over the last decades, the number of farms has decreased while average farm size has increased in industrialised countries. We investigate whether these two concomitant trends have resulted in higher farmland concentration or not in the case of France. Deriving Gini coefficients as a measure of concentration from the estimation of parametric Lorenz curves, we show that this is not systematically the case at the sub-national scale of “départements”. When studying the role of possible explanatory variables for farmland concentration, we find that milk quotas, CAP 2nd pillar subsidies and so-called structural measures (settlements and early retirement grants) have a significant impact. Is Income Inequality Endogenous in Regional Growth? AgEcon

This study focuses on testing the relationship between income inequality and growth within U.S. counties, and the channels through which such effects are observed. The study tests three hypotheses: (1) income inequality has an inverse relationship with growth; (2) regional growth adjustments are the channels through which the inequality and growth are equilibrated; and (3) income inequality is endogenous to regional growth and its adjustment. Determinants of Financial Performance of Commercial Dairy Farms. AgEcon

Data from the 1993 Farm Costs and Returns Survey were used in a multi-variate analysis framework to determine factors associated with the financial performance of commercial dairy farm operations. Statistical equivalency tests revealed regional differences in the way extensive indebtedness, size of operation, and labor cost affect net farm incomes. Regional differences were also found in terms of how milk production per cow, per-unit cost of purchased feed, and level of adoption of capital intensive technologies affect per-unit returns. Distribuição locacional agropecuária e concentração fundiária na Bacia Hidrográfica dos Rios Mogi Guaçu e Pardo AgEcon

As relações entre a distribuição locacional dos usos da terra e a concentração fundiária, nos municípios da Bacia Hidrográfica dos Rios Mogi Guaçu e Pardo, são analisadas empregando o Quociente Locacional, a Curva de Especialização e o Índice de Gini. Os resultados mostram uma concentração fundiária excessivamente alta: metade dos municípios apresenta grau de concentração médio a forte (Índice de Gini entre 0,501 e 0,700) e metade grau forte a muito forte (Índice de Gini entre 0,701 e 0,900). We examine whether there are spatial relationships in U.S. production agriculture's profitability across regions and over time. We test the traditional view that factor markets (approximately) adjust to equalize agriculture's net returns over space and time using county-level data from the UDSA's Census of Agriculture, 1992 and 1997. We estimate Gini coefficients and calculate the Theil Entropy Measure (TMI) to examine changes in the concentration of returns over space and time, and to decompose the variation in inequality in returns due to between-region variation in returns. Habitat loss is a critical threat to tropical biodiversity and its quantification constitutes a central conservation issue. Typically, assessments have been based on deforestation rates statistics. Size distributions in woody plant populations have been used to assess their regeneration status, assuming that size structures with "reverse-J" shapes represent stable populations. We present an empirical approach of this issue using five woody species from the Cerrado. ABSTRACT: We used the data of the China Labor-force Dynamics Survey 2014 to examine the effects of livelihood capitals which include natural, material, human, financial, and social capitals on total household income, per capita income, agricultural income, wage income, operational income, and property income inequality among rural households in China.
