Con el objetivo de delimitar la distribución geográfica del ocelote en el noreste de México, se ubicaron nuevos registros así como datos de ausencia probable. El estudio se realizó de mayo del 2006 a mayo del 2009 en la Zona Media y Huasteca de San Luis Potosí y en la Planicie Costera de Tamaulipas. Los registros se situaron mediante recorridos de campo, entrevistas y sensores fotográficos. Distribución geográfica y ecológica del jaguarundi (Puma yagouaroundi) en el estado de San Luis Potosí, México.

Puma yagouaroundi es una especie no estudiada en San Luis Potosí. En este estudio se obtuvieron nuevos registros, se describió el hábitat y se crearon las bases para un modelo de distribución potencial. El muestreo se llevó a cabo de octubre 2008- mayo 2009 mediante entrevistas en 96 comunidades rurales de la Zona Media, Centro y Huasteca. La información se agrupó en tres clases usando un criterio analítico de veracidad. Los lugares donde hubo avistamientos se visitaron y se tomaron los datos del hábitat. Cumulative Effects of Coastal Habitat Alterations on Fishery Resources: toward Prediction at Regional Scales

Coastal habitat alterations such as the loss of submersed aquatic vegetation (SAV) and hardening of shorelines could have cumulative effects on valuable fishery resources. To investigate this effect, we developed a multiscale modeling framework for blue crab (Callinectes sapidus) in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Areal coverage of shoreline land cover and SAV for Mobile Bay, Alabama, were combined with information from small-scale biological studies and long-term, large-scale commercial fishery data to model the potential effects of marginal habitat losses on the blue crab fishery. Modeling the Geography of Migratory Pathways and Stopover Habitats for Neotropical Migratory Birds

We undertake a spatial analysis of stopover habitat availability and then model potential migratory pathways between optimal stopovers in the eastern United States. Shopping Centers as Panther Habitat: Inferring Animal Locations from Models

A recent model of Florida panther (Puma concolor coryi) habitat erred in arbitrarily creating buffers around radio locations collected during daylight hours on the assumption that study animals were only at rest during these times. The buffers generated by this method likely cause an overestimation of the amounts and kinds of habitats that are used by the panther. Survey of Orchidaceae species of Serra das Cabeças, in Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro, Araponga-MG, Brazil

ABSTRACT Ecology of orchid species was studied, surveyed and characterized on Serra das Cabeças, a subunit of Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro (PESB), Araponga-MG, Brazil. Data were obtained through monthly visits on all trails of the area, from 2004 to 2014 covering different types of vegetation, collecting some species and identifying them. We observed characteristics such as type of vegetation, habitat where each species was found, intensity of luminosity, altitude and position of plants in relation to watercourses. Obtained results allowed to conclude: 80 species were identified, of which 45 had not been reported for PESB; five for the state of Minas Gerais, and four for Brazilian flora. Границы местообитаний пелагических сообществ и популяций раньше считали совпадающими с границами водных масс. Позже описания структуры местообитаний становились все более детальными. При этом изучаемые типы сообществ становились все более узкими таксономически. В результате биотопическая структура пелагиали сейчас представляется более сложной, чем ранее. Это хорошо видно на примере пелагиали Черного моря, особенно в период сильной летней стратификации.

Espécimes de Pristimantis crepitans (Bokermann, 1965) foram obtidos em áreas de afloramentos rochosos situadas na borda sudoeste do Cerrado e na borda oeste do Pantanal, próximo à fronteira entre o Brasil e a Bolívia. Indivíduos foram coletados e gravados na localidade-tipo e em outros quatro municípios, nos estados de Mato Grosso e Mato Grosso do Sul. Além da ampliação da área de ocorrência e de dados morfométricos adicionais aos da série-tipo, apresentamos pela primeira vez na literatura parâmetros da vocalização topotípica de P. crepitans, bem como fotografias de espécimes em vida e de alguns dos hábitats ocupados pelos mesmos.
