| NewWave-type focused wave groups are commonly used to simulate the design wave for a given sea state. These extreme wave events are challenging to reproduce numerically by the various Numerical Wave Tanks (NWTs), due to the high steepness of the wave group and the occurring wave-wave interactions. For such complex problems, the validation of NWTs against experimental results is vital for confirming the applicability of the models. Intercomparisons among different solvers are also important for selecting the most appropriate model in terms of balancing between accuracy and computational cost. | Dans le cadre d’un programme national concernant l’étude de la circulation des eaux dans le littoral tunisien nous avons installé des courantomètres et des houlographes marégraphes dans le golfe de Gabès et notamment à l’Est de Djerba, en face de Ras-Taguermess et au niveau d’El Kantara. L’analyse harmonique des séries temporelles de niveau d’eau au niveau de Ras Taguermess et El-Kantara montre la dominance des composantes de la marée semi-diurne avec prédominance de la composante semi-diurne (M2) de période 12 h 25 mn. | During the research cruise Cimar-Fiordo 2, carried out in late 1996, sea level was recorded in three stations located in channels, Messier (Puerto Edén), Wide (Punta Beresford) and Concepción (Caleta Patria). The measurements were of short term, starting in October 20th and finishing in December 13th, 1996. The sea level in those stations, was analyzed in the time and frequency dominion, and some tide non harmonic values were calculated. Results showed that tides evident influence in sea level signal, with a clear mixt semidiurnal behavior, and a daily inequality between high and low waters.
