Biochemical descriptors: importance of the genetic divergence study in peppers Horticultura Brasileira
Araújo,Lourismar M; Neves,Leonarda G; Sousa,Demétrio A; Zeviani,Walmes M; Silva,Lucinéia da R; Marostega,Thalita N.
ABSTRACT The genetic diversity of pepper genotypes is usually evaluated based on morphological and molecular descriptors. However, studies using biochemical descriptors of peppers are still incipient. Thus, the objective of this study was identify biochemical descriptors of Capsicum spp. with antioxidant action, most responsive to the selection of superior genotypes, and evaluate the correlation between concentrations of the parameters using principal components analysis. The experiment was conducted in the city of Cáceres, southwest Mato Grosso, Brazil. Seventy-eight pepper accessions from the Active Germplasm Bank of UNEMAT were planted in randomized block design. The harvested fruits were immersed in liquid nitrogen for two minutes, and the following...

Repeatability based on growth behavior ofjabuticabeira tree genotypes Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Radaelli,Juliana Cristina; Porto,Alexandre Hack; Wagner Júnior,Américo; Domingues,Lucas da Silva; Mazaro,Sergio Miguel; Citadin,Idemir.
Abstract The aim of this study was to estimate the coefficients of repeatability and determination and the minimum number of evaluations able to provide certainty levels of prediction of the real value of these individuals through stem length and the length of primary shoots in 29 jabuticabeira genotypes. The stem length and the primary shoots were evaluated between July 2012 and June 2015, representing three growth cycles. The determination of the repeatability coefficients, determination coefficients and the number of measurements required to predict the genotypes true value were performed by multivariate principal component methods based on the variance and phenotype covariance matrix. The repeatability and determination coefficients obtained are...

Corpoica Guayuriba 9: new improved soybean ( Glycine max [L] Merril) variety with specific adaptation to the Colombian foothills Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Caicedo-Guerrero,Samuel; Tibocha-Ardila,Yuli; Campuzano-Duque,Luis Fernando.
Abstract: Soybean in Colombia is constituted, like corn, as the main raw material for the production of balanced concentrates for animal feeding. The national soybean production satisfies only 7.0% of the demand for poultry-swine chain, with imports in 2014 of 363501 tons of grain and 1018256 tons of soybean meal. Currently, in Colombia, soybean is only produced in the Orinoquia region, mainly in the high plains and foothills and is part of the rice-corn-soy rotation system for the colonization of native savannas. In order to promote cultivation which allows the occupation of 500000 potentially hectares in the foothills with new varieties beyond current and meet domestic demand, Corpoica is responsible for the plant breeding. As a result of a research in...

Genetic variability of selected Passiflora alata genotypes based on the physical characteristics of fruits Ciência Rural
D'Abadia,Ana Claudia Alves; Faleiro,Fábio Gelape; Costa,Ana Maria; Junqueira,Nilton Tadeu Vilela; Braga,Marcelo Fideles.
ABSTRACT: Over several past centuries, specific plant populations have been carefully selected to filter strains with higher agronomic performance. Genetic variability is most essential for successful selection. The Passiflora genus offers great inter- and intra-specific variability. This study aimed to evaluate the physical characteristics of the genotypes of the elite passion fruit (Passiflora alata) for selection purpose. We considered the physical traits of fruit mass, longitudinal and equatorial diameters, peel thickness and color, and pulp mass and volume without and with seeds and pulp yield. The sources of variation for the analysis of variance included the fruits of 8 elite genotypes, with 3 replications, whose means were compared by Tukey’s test...

Nutritional diversity of Brachiaria ruziziensis clones Ciência Rural
Moreira,Ellen de Almeida; Souza,Shirley Motta de; Ferreira,Alexandre Lima; Tomich,Thierry Ribeiro; Azevêdo,José Augusto Gomes; Souza Sobrinho,Fausto de; Benites,Flávio Rodrigo Gandolfi; Machado,Fernanda Samarini; Campos,Mariana Magalhães; Pereira,Luiz Gustavo Ribeiro.
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional diversity of Brachiaria ruziziensis clones through chemical composition and in vitro kinetics of ruminal fermentation. Twenty three clones of Brachiaria ruziziensis were used (15, 16, 46, 174, 411, 590, 651, 670, 768, 776, 844, 859, 950, 965, 970, 975, 1067, 1093, 1296, 1765, 1806, 1894 and 1972) and Brachiaria ruziziensis cv. ‘Kennedy’, Brachiaria brizantha cv. ‘Marandu’ and Brachiaria decumbens cv. ‘Basilisk’ as controls within 27 days of harvesting. The experimental design used randomized blocks with 26 treatments (genotypes) and three replications. Evaluation of the nutritional divergence was performed using principal components analysis, based on the following discriminatory variables: in...
