La conchyliculture en Europe ArchiMer

This report includes a qualitative and descriptive approach of the oyster and mussel industries in the European Community. This report compares the structure of production, the marketsn the professional organisation, competition for the resource, legislation and support systemat the community levell. Technical and statistical datas are summarized to représent the structure of the industry, the trade flows and the main evolutions of the two industries in the EC. A summary of the county reports gives an overview of the present state of the industry in each country and suggest a first evaluation of constraints and prospects. [NOT CONTROLLDED OCR]

This document is made from reports of a working group joining together JFREMER biologists and economics to shape an economic evaluation of scallop Pecten maximus aquaculture. It lays out the synthesis of al1 available data on french scallop fisheries and market and takes stock of the farming technical results. The study also approaches the difficulties to implement this farming techniques and the problems linked with the development of a new aquacultural activity. This work contributes to determine the right research fields to cany out, to identify the projects which will be submitted to an economic analysis and to define the measures to take in order to allow an efficient technical transfer as well as a good sectorial survey

In a general context of low progression, European aquaculture has been characterized by the development of intensive fish farming. The most notable fact is the recent increase in intensive salmonid farming, with a turnover of almost two million ECU. More recently, the intensive farming of sea bass and sea bream has increased very rapidly in the Mediterranean Basin, although on a more reduced extent. Although research has started as soon as the seventies with a strong public incentive both for salmon, sea bass and sea bream, the development of these different types of aquaculture has not been done at the same pace. Finfish farming diversification is a reality nowadays in France: this work brings the interest of the whole commodity chain for new fish species. This report identifies the species criterions of choice from inquiries beside professionals of the commodity chain, proposes a selection method and tackles, in example, the choice of new species for fish farming in cages on the west coasts of France, from Bay of Biscay to the North Sea. ' Method is divided in two stages: firstly an elimkation stage, which aims are to select from the 25 000 fish species, potential species by using redhibitory postulates, secondly a position stage which classifies the remaining species. En Algérie du point de vue gestion des bovins et ovins, l’alimentation constitue une contrainte de la conduite du cheptel [1]. Dans la région de Chlef, la base des productions de viandes bovine et ovine, est constituée en plus des parcours, de la céréaliculture et des fourrages. L’objectif de cette étude est d’examiner la relation entre espace agricole et les productions de viandes bovine et ovine.
