Phytotoxic Potential of the Crude Extract and Leaf Fractions of Machaerium hirtum on the Initial Growth of Euphorbia heterophylla And Ipomoea grandifolia Planta Daninha
XIMENEZ,G.R.; SANTIN,S.M.O.; IGNOATO,M.C.; SOUZA,L.A.; PASTORINI,L.H..
ABSTRACT: Allelopathy is the term used to define any process involving secondary metabolites produced by plants and microorganisms that influence growth and development of agrobiological systems. Currently, it is sought to find allelochemicals of interest and know how to apply them in bio-herbicides to combat weeds. In this study, the effects of the crude leaf extract and fractions of Machaerium hirtum (Vell.) Stellfeld were analyzed on Euphorbia heterophylla L. (wild poinsettia) and Ipomoea grandifolia (Dammer) O’Donell (morning glory), as well as the occurrence of morphoanatomical changes. For this, 0.04 g of the crude extract and fractions were solubilized and diluted (50 mL) to concentrations of 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 g L-1 (m/v). Initial growth tests...

Clusia criuva Cambess. (Clusiaceae): anatomical characterization, chemical prospecting and antioxidant activity Anais da ABC (AABC)
SILVA,KARLA M.M. DA; NÓBREGA,ANDREA B. DA; LESSA,BRUNO; ANHOLETI,MARIA CAROLINA; LOBÃO,ADRIANA Q.; VALVERDE,ALESSANDRA L.; PAIVA,SELMA R. DE; JOFFILY,ANA.
ABSTRACT This study aims the anatomical description and chemical characterization of aerial parts of Clusia criuva Cambess., Clusiaceae in addition to the evaluation of the antioxidant activity of crude extracts, correlated to the flavonoid content. The morphological characterization was performed using traditional techniques of plant anatomy. For phytochemical studies, crude extracts were obtained by static maceration and analyzed by thin layer chromatography. The antioxidant activity and the flavonoids content were determined by colorimetric methods involving, respectively, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical and aluminum chloride. C. criuva has uniseriate epidermis, paracytic stomata, hypostomatic leaves, cuticular flanges and cordiform vascular...

Radicular anatomy of twelve representatives of the Catasetinae subtribe (Orchidaceae: Cymbidieae) Anais da ABC (AABC)
Pedroso-de-Moraes,Cristiano; Souza-Leal,Thiago de; Brescansin,Rafael L.; Pettini-Benelli,Adarilda; Sajo,Maria das Graças.
Considering that the root structure of the Brazilian genera belonging to the Catasetinae subtribe is poorly known, we describe the roots of twelve representatives from this subtribe. For anatomical analysis, the roots were fixed in FAA 50, preserved in ethanol 70% and sectioned at its medium region using razor blades. The sections were stained with 0.05% astra blue and safranin and mounted in glycerin. For the identification of starch we used Lugol's solution; for lignin, floroglucin chloridric; for lipids, Sudan III, and for flavanoids, potassium hydroxide. The relevant aspects were registered using a digital camera joined with an Olympus microspope (BX51 model). The structural similarities of all roots support the placement of the subtribe Catasetinae...
