Phytosanitary quality of Brachiaria brizantha ‘BRS Piatã’ seeds in function of climate conditions AGRIAMBI
Silva,Givanildo Z. da; Martins,Cibele C.; Nascimento,Luciana C. do; Barreto,Gabriel G.; Farias,Otília R. de.
ABSTRACT Infected seeds are one of the main pathogen transmission vehicles, and they are responsible for significant losses in production fields; phytosanitary defense depends on the inoculum and climatic factors. Thus, in this study, it was aimed to identify climatic variables of the regions that propitiate the production of Brachiaria brizantha ‘BRS Piatã’ seeds infected with phytopathogenic fungi. Temperature and rainfall data were obtained from 10 production fields, and phytosanitary quality of the seeds was evaluated with the filter paper method; the means were compared using the Kruskal–Wallis non-parametric analysis. Principal component analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the climatic variables and seed phytosanitary...

Silage quality of Brachiaria brizantha cultivars ensiled with different levels of millet meal Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Costa,K.A.P; Assis,R.L; Guimarães,K.C; Severiano,E.C; Assis Neto,J.M; Crunivel,W.S; Garcia,J.F; Santos,N.F.
The silage quality of Brachiaria brizantha cultivars ensiled with different levels of millet meal was evaluated. The experimental design was a completely randomized with three replications in a factorial 3 x 4, with three cultivars of Brachiaria brizantha: marandu, xaraés, and piatã and four levels of millet meal 0, 5, 10, and 15%. The addition of millet meal improved the quality of B. brizantha silage. The inclusion of the additive at 15% provided the best nutritional values. The piatã silage had the lowest contents of neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, and lignin and the highest content of total digestible nutrients, being a better quality silage as compared to those of xaraés and marandu grasses.
