En esta investigación se presentan resultados de tres experimentos para evaluar el efecto del suministro de lantano (La) en variables agronómicas y fisiológicas de tulipán en solución nutritiva. En el experimento uno se evaluó el efecto del suministro de La (5, 10, 20, 30 y 40 µM) y dos fuentes [LaCl3 y La(NO3)3] durante el ciclo de cultivo de tulipán var. Ile de France, sobre la tasa de crecimiento absoluto (TCA), tasa de crecimiento relativo (TCR), acumulación y distribución de materia seca y acumulación nutrimental. Por efecto de fuente de La no se observaron diferencias significativas. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of the rest period of seed-rhizomes in the phenology and yield of yam Da Costa (Dioscorea cayennensis). The experiment was carried out in field conditions at the Federal University of Paraíba, in Areia, Brazil, from January to December 2004, in an Ustpsamment soil. A completely randomized block design was used to test three treatments, 60-, 80-, and 100-day seed-rhizome rest periods, with seven replications. Altura de corte de capim Elefante cv. Cameroon em Rondônia. Infoteca-e

Resultados de pesquisa demonstraram que em Ouro Preto e Ariquemes-Rondonia, as maiores producoes de MS sao obtidas com corte a 10 e 20cm e 25 e 30cm acima do solo, respectivamente, enquanto que em Presidente Medice-RO a altura de corte nao afetou a producao de MS, contudo, visando asssegurar maior persistencia da capineira, recomenda-se corte acima de 10cm. Cortes e baixa altura (5 e 10cm) implicam na reducao dos stands e em incremento da infestacao de invasoras. Nos tres locais, a altura de corte nao influenciou os teores de PB da forragem.

The effects of 0, 30 and 60 mM NaCl and substrates (red peat, sand or 3:1:1 [w/w] mixture of peat, sand, or soil) on vegetative growth of lulo, an Andean fruit species, during 12 weeks were studied. The experiment was carried out by using 2000 cm³ of polypropylene plastic pots under greenhouse conditions. Plant height, number of leaves and nodes, leaf area, total plant dry matter (DM), and shoot/root ratio were evaluated. With the increase of salt concentration, the plant height, the number of leaves and nodes, the leaf areas and plant dry mass DM decreased, whereas shoot/root ratio increased. Magnesium sulphate and the development of the common bean cultivated in an Ultisol of Northeast Australia Scientia Agricola

Magnesium applications (MgS0(4).7H(2)0) to achieve 8 and 16 mmol c/cm3 of Mg (324 and 1284 kg of MgS0(4) ha-1) were made on one Ultisol from Australia Northeast to correct Mg deficiency in plants and to verify the optimum level of Mg to grow common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L). Magnesium was applied together with lime, N, K, Cu, Zn, B, and Mo as calcium carbonate, ammonium nitrate, potassium phosphate, cupric and zinc sulphate, boric acid and sodium molybdate respectively a month before planting and P as phosphoric acid at the planting. Growth of seven perennial plant species adapted to the Brazilian Semi-Arid Acta Botanica

Measuring plant height (y) and canopy diameter (x) in trees may not be an easy task, but stem diameter (z) can be more easily evaluated. This work's objective was two-fold: evaluate the growth of species adapted to the Brazilian Semi-Arid Region in the first two years of age, and obtain linear equations to estimate y and x from z, in those species. A random block design with four replications was employed. The values for x, z, and y were measured biannually from October/2003 to March/2005.
