Taxonomy and distribution of the Trifurcula (Glaucolepis) raikhonae group (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Nieukerken, E.J. van; Purplesis, R..
Trifurcula (Glaucolepis) melanoptera sp. n. is described from southern Europe, where it is widespread. It is closely related to the Central Asian T. (Glaucolepis) raikhonae Puplesis, which is redescribed. Together they form the raikhonae species group. Sinopticula Yang is here synonymized with Glaucolepis Braun, its only species S. sinica Yang is tentatively regarded as closely related, if not conspecific with T. raikhonae. The distribution is mapped. On the basis of recent Chinese findings the larvae are assumed to be gall-makers on Prunus branches. Some phylogenetic and biogeographic remarks are given.

A new pygmy leafmining moth, Stigmella tatrica sp. n., from the alpine zone of the Tatra Mountains (Lepidoptera, Nepticulidae) Naturalis
Tokár, Z.; Laštůvka, A.; Nieukerken, E.J. van.
Stigmella tatrica sp. n. is described from moths taken in the alpine zone of the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia. The new species is similar to several other montane species of Stigmella Schrank, 1802 in the S. aurella (Fabricius, 1775) group in external characters and male genitalia; its closest relative is S. dryadella (O. Hofmann, 1868). It is indistinguishable from S. tormentillella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1860) by the colour and pattern elements of the forewing; however, it differs in the male genitalia in the shape and number of cornuti, in the female genitalia by long apophyses with protruding ovipositor, and by COI barcodes. Immature stages are unknown, but Dryas octopetala L. (Rosaceae) is the possible hostplant. The long ovipositor suggests an unusual,...

[Proceedings of the 5th Symposium on Mesozoic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans, Krakow, Poland, 2013: A tribute to Pál Mihály Müller / R.H.B. Fraaije, M. Hyžný, J.W.M. Jagt, M. Krobicki & B.W.M. van Bakel (eds.)]: Miocene squat lobsters (Decapoda, Anomura, Galatheoidea) of the Central Paratethys – a review, with description of a new species of Munidopsis Naturalis
Hyžný, M.; Gašparič, R.; Robins, C.M.; Schlögl, J..
All squat lobsters of the families Galatheidae, Munididae and Munidopsidae from the Miocene of the Central Paratethys are reviewed taxonomically. Based on additional observations emended diagnoses are provided for Agononida cerovensis and Galathea weinfurteri, from the Lower and Middle Miocene, respectively. Munidopsis is represented by two species in the study area; additional data for M. lieskovensis from the Lower Miocene of Slovakia are presented and a new species, M. palmuelleri, from the Middle Miocene of Slovenia is erected. Implications for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions are briefly discussed for each taxon.

DER SLOWAKISCHE MARKT FÜR MILCH UND MILCHPRODUKTE – VOM BEGINN DER TRANSFORMATION BIS ZUM EU-BEITRITT AgEcon
Glitsch, Kristina; Eerits, Alena.
Like in other CEEC, transition in the beginning of the 1990s had significant consequences for the agricultural and food sectors in Slovakia. For example, Slovakian consumers reacted to the abolition of consumer subsidies by drastically reducing their consumption of milk and milk products. Concurrently, milk production declined and now stands at fifty percent of its 1989 level. Dairies were closed down while those remaining carried on producing under constantly increasing overcapacities. In the years prior to EU accession, activities in the milk sector were primarily aimed at the adoption of EU standards. Meanwhile, the Slovakian milk processing industry is predominantly in the possession of foreign investors. Present per capita consumption of milk and milk...

The persistence of the corporate farms: they survived the transition but do they have future under the CAP AgEcon
Latruffe, Laure; Davidova, Sophia; Blaas, Gejza.
The newly emergent landowners in the 1990s left their land in the corporate farms due to the low level of farm profitability and the high risk in the general economic environment. The accession to the EU and the introduction of the CAP Single Area Payment (SAP) could induce incentives to landowners to withdraw their land if they are not satisfied with the level of rent. The negotiations between the corporate farm managers and the landowners concerning the rent level have been conceptualised as a simple two-player one-shot game. Overall conclusion is that although the SAP might induce more landowners to ask for a rent increase, it is unlikely that they will massively withdraw their land from the corporate farms. However, financially constrained farms might...

Slovak Agricultural Markets Under Alternative CAP Scenarios - AG-MEMOD Modelling Approach AgEcon
Pokrivcak, Jan; Bartova, Lubica; Ciaian, Pavel.
Slovak sectoral partial equilibrium econometric model based on AG-MEMOD approach is used to analyse the development of the Slovak agricultural markets after EU accession. Simulation results for cereals, oilseeds and meats are provided in this article. Two scenarios are analysed: non-accession baseline and accession with adoption of single area payment scheme. EU accession is expected to increase prices of most products, the biggest increase of prices will occur in animal sector. Because of higher prices consumption will go down. Decrease of consumption will be mitigated by income growth. Production will not increase substantially due to decoupling of direct payments. Trade balance for majority of products will improve.
