Captage de naissain de pectinidés en rade de Brest. Incidences sur les programmes d'aménagement. ArchiMer
Dao, Jean-claude; Caisey, Xavier.
Since 1973, spat collection bas been conducted by IFREMER in the bay of Brest. This collection aimed at providing juveniles of Pecten maximus (1973-77) and then Chlamys varia(1977-87) in order to improve the management of the fishing grounds of the two species. Since 1982, the efforts have been focussed on the P. maximus spat production through the hatchery/nursery systems and the intermediate culture. Juveniles are seeded above a minimum size to create an additional population. In parallel, the levels of spat yied/collector have been followed as a pre-recruit index. At present time, there is no increase of spat collection during 1985-1990. Moreover, the results rise up the question of water quality in the bay of Brest for this group apparently very...

Eléments de comprehension des stratégies de captage naturel de l'huître creuse (Crassostrea gigas) des ostréiculteurs de Charente- Maritime ArchiMer
Toulhoat, Lucile.
In France, Pacific oyster farming is mostly dependent on natural spat collection, which supplies more than half of the needs in juvenile oysters, the remaining part is provided by hatcheries. This activity has been undertaken since the second half of the nineteenth century, mostly in the Arcachon basin and in the pertuis charentais (Charente straits), which provides most of natural spat produced in France. Traditionally, Pacific oyster juveniles are harvested by oyster farmers, among which some are specialized. Specific collectors are settled in the intertidal zone during reproduction period (end of June to beginning of September). In Charente-Maritime, the spat collection strategies have underwent many changes, and are now quite diverse. The present study...

Funo,Izabel Cristina da Silva Almeida; Antonio,Ícaro Gomes; Marinho,Yllana Ferreira; Monteles,Josinete Sampaio; Lopes,Rodolf Gabriel Prazeres Silva; Gálvez,Alfredo Olivera.
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to determine the moment of the year for the oyster recruitment and define the type of collector and environmental conditions that maximize recruitment. Collections were conducted, during 12 months, on Amazon Macrotidal Mangrove at two different sites: raft (point I) and mangrove (point II). In each location three types of collectors were used (1) transparent PET bottles, (2) green PET bottles, and (3) PVC sheets, each with three replicates. Spats were counted and measured at 45-day intervals, while the environmental data were measured every two weeks. Identification of oyster species occurred by genetic testing (multiplex PCR) by randomly selecting individuals by sampling. Results indicated spat capturing was...
