Increase in Apoptosis and of the Stress Protein HSP70 in the Mouse Epididymis Produced by the Antiandrogen Flutamide International Journal of Morphology
Bustos Obregón,Eduardo; Esponda,Pedro.
The general aim of this paper was to characterize some changes induced by androgen receptors blockage in the epithelial cells of the mouse epididymis. The antiandrogen flutamide was injected (10 mg/Kg b.w.) to adult male mice which were sacrificed 24h. and 72h. after. Controls injected with the vehicle (corn oil) were sacrificed at the same intervals. Cryosections were made of the epididymides and examined by the TUNEL method for quantification of apoptosis and also using immunocytochemistry to visualize the expression of the stress protein HSP70. The highest indexes of apoptosis were observed in the caput epididymis after 72 h. and were of 7.40 cells/1000 in contrast to controls (0.21 cells/1000). HSP70 appeared particularly increased in the caput and...

Effect of prostaglandin A1 in the induction of stress proteins in Aedes albopictus cells BJMBR
Barbosa,J.A.; Rebello,M.A..
Prostaglandins are natural fatty acid derivatives with diverse physiological effects, including immune function and the control of cell growth. While the action of prostaglandins in the induction of stress proteins in vertebrate cells is well documented, their functions in invertebrate cells have been poorly investigated. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of prostaglandin A1 (PGA1; 0.25, 1.25 and 12.5 µg/ml) on protein synthesis during the growth of Aedes albopictus cells. We found that PGA1 stimulates the synthesis of several polypeptides with molecular masses of 87, 80, 70, 57, 29, 27 and 23 kDa in Aedes albopictus cells. When the proteins induced by PGA1 and those induced by heat treatment were compared by polyacrylamide gel...
