| Neste capítulo, serão discutidos os aspectos gerais mais relevantes para a prática da irrigação de duas culturas frutíferas subtropicais (citricultura e viticultura), que também são cultivadas em regiões tropicais do Brasil. A sequência da apresentação do tema, para cada cultura, envolverá primeiramente uma abordagem geral a relevância do cultivo irrigado para as diferentes regiões produtoras do Brasil. | Planktonic and benthic productivity and consumption were estimated to assess the availability of food to higher trophic-level consumers in the Ubatuba ecosystem on the SE coast of Brazil. The study area included waters from 10 to 100 m deep and covered 3800 km(2). The trophic compartments of the system were established on ecologically or taxonomically related species, considering their relative abundance and similarity of diets and habits. | We studied the seasonal activity of Bombus pennsylvanicus sonorus Say in subtropical conditions of the Mexican Central Plateau. Monthly during 1998, we recorded caste of active individuals (inferred form corporal size measured as wing length), presence and activity of reproductive individuals, and mating activity. Also, we recorded the flower plants used as resources. Subtropical conditions of the Mexican Central Plateau do not seem to modify phenological features of B. pennsylvanicus sonorus since the species presents annual colonies and a clearly defined period of inactivity. | Neste trabalho teve-se como objetivo testar o modelo CENTURY para simular os efeitos das mudanças de uso da terra nos teores de carbono no solo e na produção primária líquida na bacia do rio Piracicaba, SP. O modelo foi parametrizado e as simulações foram realizadas considerando-se áreas de florestas, pastagens e cana-de-açúcar, dada a sua importância econômica. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que a alteração do uso/cobertura do solo provoca a diminuição do estoque de carbono do solo. As simulações realizadas na transição de uma floresta para cana-de-açúcar indicaram um decréscimo de 28% no estoque de carbono nos primeiros 12 anos, e diminuição de 42% com 50 anos de cultivo do solo com essa gramínea. | ABSTRACT Ceratium furcoides has received attention due its invasive behavior in South America and consequent alterations in local phytoplankton communities. Pedalinhos Lake had been dominated by chlorophytes until 2015, when the first occurrence of this dinoflagellate was detected. In order to investigate the colonization process of this species, we monitored the meteorological variables and phytoplankton abundance of this urban lake on a weekly basis from September 2015 to September 2018. | Nas marismas do sul do Brasil a comunidade de diatomáceas é desconhecida. Este estudo visa avaliar a composição, a riqueza e a β-diversidade desta comunidade com base em amostras coletadas em cinco pontos georeferenciados, entre as coordenadas 31º59'18.60"S - 52º14'58.50"W e 32º06'49.74"S - 52º09'22.57"W, em janeiro de 2002 e março de 2008, no estuário da laguna dos Patos. Esta comunidade esteve composta por 64% de diatomáceas salobras, 24% de marinhas e 16% de dulcícolas e esteve representada por 24 famílias, 36 gêneros e 50 táxons específicos e intra-específicos.
