Contributions on Gargaphia (Heteroptera, Tingidae) systematics: redescriptions of two South American species with considerations on the status of G. inca Iheringia, Sér. Zool.
Guidoti,Marcus.
Gargaphia inca Monte, 1943 was synonymized with G. opima Drake, 1931 without any declared reasons. Gargaphia inca is known only from its type location (Satipo, Peru), and G. opima from Colombia (Villavencio) and Peru (Cam. Del Pichis, type-locality), in addition to the new records here presented, including the first record for Ecuador. Both species are redescribed, and the status of G. inca is revisited and raised from synonymy. Illustrations of some of the most remarkable differences between these taxa are provided, as well as dorsal habitus images. Discussions on the genus systematic status and this nomenclatural act are presented.

Review of the hydrothermal vent shrimp genus Mirocaris, redescription of M-fortunata and reassessment of the taxonomic status of the family Alvinocarididae (Crustacea : Decapoda : Caridea) ArchiMer
Komai, T; Segonzac, Michel.
The hydrothermal vent shrimp genus Mirocaris is reviewed. Morphological comparison between the two nominal species in the genus, M. fortunata and M. keldyshi, was made based on the re-examination of the holotype and paratypes of Mirocarisfortunata and the paratypes of M. keldyshi. Samples newly collected from various sites on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge were also examined. The validity of the genus Mirocaris has been confirmed. However, our study has revealed that the supposed morphological characters distinguishing M. fortunata and M. keldyshi do not provide significant taxonomic differences and further comparison failed to detect morphological differences between the two taxa. Thus M. keldyshi is synonymized with M. fortunata, and so there is only one single...

Systematic notes on Asian birds. 56. The authorship and date of Turdus rubrocanus Naturalis
Dickinson, E.C.; Walters, M..
This name from J.E. & G.R. Gray’s 1847 Catalogue of B.H. Hodgson’s materials from Nepal was not based on a description therein, although it is generally cited from there, and correctly so except for the date. It is valid from there only under the little-used Articles 11.6 and 50.7 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (I.C.Z.N., 1999). These rules allow Hodgson’s 1844 nomen nudum to be reintroduced together with an ‘indication’ although still without a description. In exploring the validity of the citation from 1847 we found that over time the rules of nomenclature have changed and that what should not have been acceptable in 1962 and 1964, is now acceptable. We also draw attention to a colour plate that seems likely to have been...

Gaidropsarus pacificus (Temminck & Schlegel), a junior synonym of Rhinonemus cimbrius (Linnaeus) (Pisces: Gadiformes: Gadidae) Naturalis
Machida, Y..
The gadid fish, Gaidropsarus pacificus, originally described as Motella pacifica by Temminck & Schlegel (1842) is reduced to a junior synonym of Rhinonemus cimbrius (Linnaeus, 1758). Confusion on the systematic status of Gaidropsarus pacificus seems to have resulted from the inadequate description of barbels in the original description of Motella pacifica.

The identity of the mysterious “Azara’s Parakeet” Sittace flaviventris Wagler, 1832 Anais da ABC (AABC)
SMITH,PAUL.
ABSTRACT Sittace flaviventris Wagler, 1832 was the name given to Azara’s No. 276 “Maracaná cabeza y encuentro roxos”, but since then the identity of the species has remained a mystery. Based on a tail-less domestic individual, it has most often been attributed to an aberrant Aratinga parakeet, and is currently considered a doubtful taxon. In this note the identity of “Azara’s Parakeet” is confirmed as Red-spectacled Amazon Amazona pretrei (Temminck, 1830), a species that still occurs today in the region from where Azara described it. Sittace flaviventris is thus a junior synonym of Amazona pretrei.
