| The genus Trigona contains at least 31 species, but there have been few cytogenetic studies of this group. In this work, four species of Trigona (T. branneri, T. chanchamayoensis, T. hyalinata, and T. recursa) from the municipality of Cuiabá, in the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil, were studied. In all of the species, the females had 2n = 34 chromosomes and the males had n = 17. The C-banding patterns showed that the karyotypes of these species consisted mainly of acrocentric and pseudoacrocentric chromosomes. These cytogenetic findings should useful in future phylogenetic studies of this group. |

| Um experimento foi desenvolvido em um pomar de macadâmia para se determinar os insetos associados às panículas, horário e número de visitas. Os estudos foram conduzidos na Extação Experimental de Tietê (São Paulo), localizada entre as coordenadas geográficas 47º 44' W G- 47º 42 WG e 22º 59'01 S. Os insetos foram capturados com rede entomológica, mortos e identificados segundo espécie. O horário e número de visitas para A mellifera e abelhas Trigona, foi determinado através da contagem dos insetos presentes em cinco panículas, das 7:40h às 17:40h, durante 15 minutos por hora. | Records about stingless bee-fungi interaction are very rare. In Brazilian Amazonia, workers of Trigona crassipes (Fabricius, 1793) and Trigona fulviventris Guérin, 1835 visiting two stinkhorn species, Dictyophora sp. and Phallus sp., respectively, were observed. The workers licked the fungi gleba, a mucilaginous mass of spores covering the pileum. Neither gleba residue nor spores were found on the body surface of these bee workers. These observations indicate that these bee species include spores as a complement in their diet. On the other hand, they also suggest that these stingless bees can, at times, facilitale spore dispersal, in case intact spores are eliminated with the feces. |
