Essai de mise en évidence in situ de paramètres biotiques et abiotiques de l'eau et de l'interface eau-sédiment intervenant dans la production de l'huître creuse Crassostrea gigas ArchiMer
Heral, Maurice; Deslous-paoli, Jean-marc; Razet, Daniel; Prou, Jean.
The flesh production of oysters is mainly related to concentrations of dissolved carbon and free amino acids. The younger oysters are dependent on concentrations of pheopigments while the production of the older ones is related to chlorophyll a values of the water-sediment interface. Shell production depends mainly on temperature, but also on the amount of food available: concentrations of dissolved carbon for the younger oysters and values in chlorophyll a of the interface for the older ones.

Structure of the artificial hard substrate assemblages in ports in Thermaikos Gulf (North Aegean Sea) ArchiMer
Karalis, P; Antoniadou, C; Chintiroglou, C.
The present study describes the hard substrate assemblages established on the concrete blocks of three ports placed in gradually longer distances from the main source of pollution in Thermaikos Gulf. The samplings were performed on a seasonal basis for a 2-year period. The data analysis indicates a clear separation of the assemblages from each port. Evenness and Shannon-Weaver diversity indices were calculated and their values were found to be quite high. This fact, combined with the seasonal pattern that these assemblages hold, reveals stability and a good adaptation of their faunistic components to local environmental conditions. A change due to the construction of a new block functioning as a surge barrier was detectable at the station of N. Michaniona....

Bioaccumulation of Hg, Cu, and Zn in the Azores triple junction hydrotherinal vent fields food web ArchiMer
Colaco, Ana; Bustamante, Paco; Fouquet, Yves; Sarradin, Pierre-marie; Serrao Santos, R.
In this work, mercury (Hg), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) concentrations and tissue distribution are determined in seven benthic invertebrates species (the key species) from the Mid Atlantic Ridge (MAR) hydrothermal vent fields. The samples were collected from three hydrothermal vent fields - Menez Gwen, 840 m;, Lucky Strike, 1700 m and Rainbow, 2300 m - near the Azores Triple Junction. These fields are characterized by different depths, geological context and chemical composition of the hydrothermal fluid, particularly the metal content, which is reflected by the metal concentrations in the organisms. Indeed, our results show that organisms from Menez Gwen presented the highest Hg concentrations, while those from Lucky Strike and Rainbow were richer in Cu and...

Structure and functions of Polychaetofauna living in Mytilus galloprovincialis assemblages in Thermaikos Gulf (north Aegean Sea) ArchiMer
Damianidis, P; Chintiroglou, Cc.
The purpose of this study is to examine the Polychaetes populations of the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck 1819 assemblage in Thessaloniki Bay (Perea, Neoi Epivates, Agia Triada) in space and time. Forty-eight Polychaetes species, which belong to 16 families, were identified among 10 593 individuals. The different distribution in space and time can be attributed to the life cycles of the Polychaetes, and also to the various biotic interactions. In general, the abundance follows the succession of the seasons, with some deviations though. Thus, the samples can be divided into two major groups, the winter and summer samples. The structure of the feeding guilds of the Polycheates population was also investigated and 9 different feeding guilds were...

Trophic network of aquatic macroinvertebrates along an altitudinal gradient in a Neotropical mountain river Rev. Bras. entomol.
Tamaris-Turizo,Cesar E.; Pinilla-A,Gabriel A.; Muñoz,Isabel.
ABSTRACT Studies of trophic networks and the evaluation of processes that occur along altitudinal gradients in river systems are of great importance because they allow an understanding of energy flow dynamics and provide scientific tools for the planning and management of river ecosystems. This research describes the trophic network of aquatic macroinvertebrates along an altitudinal gradient of the Gaira River, a mountain Neotropical watercourse located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia. The organisms were collected in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the river during the rainy and dry seasons (between 2010 and 2013). Trophic relationships were evaluated through gut content analysis. The contents were determined and quantified...

Famílias de Coleoptera capturadas com armadilha malaise em oito localidades do Estado do Paraná, Brasil: diversidades alfa e beta Zoologia
Marinoni,Renato C; Dutra,Renato R.C.
Eight geographical areas, considered as representative of the different natural environments still existing in the state of Paraná, in Southern Brazil, were selected for the collection of insects. This data is part of the "Survey of the Entomological Fauna in Paraná State" (henceforth profaupar). These areas were continually sampled using a Malaise trap (Townes' 1972 model) throughout a single year (52 weeks) from August, 1986, until July 1987. The Coleoptera obtained has been sorted at family level and analyzed. The highest family variety and abundance were observed at Jundiaí do Sul and Ponta Grossa, and the greatest eveness at Jundiaí do Sul and Telêmaco Borba. A study ou phytophagous/non phytophagous families relations made possible a first approach...
