Review of the family Halopterididae (Hydrozoa, Cnidaria) Naturalis
Schuchert, P..
All genera and species of the hydrozoan family Halopterididae are reviewed. Where material was available, species are described and figured and the extent of morphological variation is assessed as far as possible. The re-examined material includes samples from the Challenger, Siboga, and Galathea expeditions. Numerous types were re-examined and taxonomic revisions made where necessary. For several nominal species lectotypes are designated. Two new species are described: Antennella kiwiana from New Zealand and Halopteris platygonotheca, a wide spread species from the Indo-Pacific Ocean. Halopteris buskii var. peculiaris (Billard, 1913) is raised to species level as Halopteris peculiaris. Several species are sunk into synonymy: Plumularia balei Billard, 1911...

(type species: P. cerdai spec. nov. from French Guiana and Brazil) and Dicarinoryctes gen. nov. (type species: D. apicalis spec. nov. from French Guiana). A further three new species are described: Caingangia delicata spec. nov. from French Guiana, Leptodoryctes barbalhoae spec. nov. from French Guiana, and Ptesimogaster lemkoi spec. nov. from Brazil. Cretaceous Bryozoa from the Campanian and Maastrichtian of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains, United States Naturalis
Taylor, P.D.; McKinney, F.K..
The Late Cretaceous bryozoan fauna of North America has been severely neglected in the past. In this preliminary study based on museum material and a limited amount of fieldwork, we describe a total of 128 Campanian-Maastrichtian bryozoan species from Delaware, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. Eighty-two of these species are new, as are five (Basslerinella, Pseudoallantopora, Kristerina, Turnerella and Peedeesella) of the 77 genera. One new family, Peedeesellidae, is proposed. Cheilostomes, with 94 species (73 per cent of the total), outnumber cyclostomes, with 34 species (27 percent), a pattern matching that seen elsewhere in the world in coeval deposits. There appear to be very...

European and United States farmers’ markets: similarities, differences and potential developments AgEcon
Vecchio, Riccardo.
Farmers’ markets have always been the usual way of buying and selling rural products in the Western world. With the advent of supermarkets, farmers’ markets rapidly disappeared in many nations. However, in countries such as France and Italy, which place a high priority on food origin and regional specialisation, some farmers’ markets continued to exist, partly due to their mechanisms to identify and promote locally grown foods. The consumer’s desire to re-establish a bond with local food products, local growers and producers, together with the growing concern for food freshness and healthiness have been key drivers for the renaissance of farmers’ markets occurred in the latest years in many European countries and in the United States. Several studies,...
