Genetic diversity of Gossypium barbadense from the central Brazilian Amazon Acta Amazonica

ABSTRACT The Amazon Basin is a center of diversity of Gossypium barbadense and the strategy for conservation of this genetic resource depends on the knowledge of the diversity maintained in Amazonas State. During two expeditions, in 2012 and 2014, plants were collected in ten municipalities in the state of Amazonas, in the central Brazilian Amazon region. The molecular diversity was estimated by SSR markers for 50 samples collected in 2012. The morphological diversity of 24 plants collected in 2014 was assessed ex situ and compared to that of 50 plants of the same and other cotton varieties from other Brazilian states. ABSTRACT Sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis) is native to the Amazon region and has a high seed content of mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids, making it interesting for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. The purpose of this study was to analyze sacha inchi genetic diversity and describe accessions based on phenotypic characteristics. Viability, production and morphology of pollen grains for different species in the genus Manihot (Euphorbiaceae) Acta Botanica

The objective of this work was to characterize the viability, production and morphology of pollen for different species in the genus Manihot. Floral buds from Manihot accessions were collected from two germplasm banks at Embrapa Cassava & Fruits. The viability of the pollen was assessed via colorimetric, in vitro and in vivo assays. The diameter of the pollen grains was determined by measuring the transversal length of the grain. The experimental design was entirely randomized. Studies on pollen ultrastructure were performed via scanning electron microscopy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the storage potential of the pollen grains of Brazil Green Dwarf (BGD), Brazilian Tall (BRA) and Cameroon Red Dwarf (CRD) coconut accessions under different storage conditions. Representative plants of BGD, BRA and CRD accessions were selected from the Coconut Active Germplasm Bank of Embrapa Coastal Tablelands. Phenotypic Diversity of Apple (Malus sp.) Germplasm in South Serbia BABT

To determine the overall degree of polymorphism, detect similarities among the accessions and collect highly valued genotypes of native apples, 21 characters of 18 autochthonous apple cultivars were studied for three years. Particular individual accessions were selected from the south region of Serbia according to economically valuable characters and tested in situ. The objective of this study was to characterize for the first time polyphenols and DPPH (2-diphenyl-1-picryhydrazyl radical) antioxidant activity in commonly cultivated accessions of Phaseolus lunatus from an ex situ germplasm collection maintained by Embrapa, in Brazil. Furthermore, the study aimed to detect changes in total polyphenols, total flavonoids and condensed tannin for the same accessions after regeneration in a greenhouse. Cytogenetic analyses in Paspalum L. reveal new diploid species and accessions Ciência Rural

Chromosome numbers were counted in 126 new accessions of 50 Paspalum species from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. The chromosome numbers 2n=12, 20, 24, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 were confirmed. Chromosome numbers for P. arenarium (2n=20), P. barretoi (2n=20), P. aff. ceresia (2n=40), P. corcovadense (2n=20), P. crispulum (2n=20), P. flaccidum (2n=40), P. nummularium (2n=20), P. scalare (2n=20), P. vescum (2n=20) and P. rectum (2n=20) and a diploid cytotype of P. malacophyllum are reported for the first time. El objetivo de este estudio fue conocer los caracteres morfológicos de la planta de vainilla (Vanilla planifolia J.) de hoja, tallo, fruto y esqueje que el productor usa en la selección de su material de reproducción y comprender su importancia en la conservación de la especie en cuatro municipios de la región del Totonacapan, México. Los municipios en los que se hizo el estudio fueron: Venustiano Carranza y Caxhuacan del estado de Puebla y de Papantla de Olarte y Gutiérrez Zamora del estado de Veracruz. Bajo la metodología de la encuesta se entrevistó a 88 agricultores. Los resultados indican que en la selección del bejuco la mayoría de los agricultores que cultivan vainilla, consideran; la sección de planta, altura, vigor y sanidad en la planta madre...
