| Among several silvicultural measures of forest fires prevention, fuelbreaks stands out. These structures are used to reduce and/or prevent fire spread. They consist of plantations with lower flammability species than the main species. The aim of this study was to evaluate the flammability of Psidium cattleianum Sabine., Ligustrum lucidum W. T. Aiton., Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi. and Bougainvillea glabra Choisy, for potential use in fuelbreaks. In this research Pinus taeda L. was used as control. | In 2000, as part of its strategy for growth and poverty reduction, the Government of Rwanda set a goal to increase per capita income from US$230 to US$900 and halve the incidence of poverty by 2020. Two years after those targets were established Rwanda's first Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) projected that GDP growth in the range of 6 to 7 percent would be needed over the long term for those targets to be realized. | Miíases são lesões ocasionadas pelo parasitismo da forma larval da mosca Cochliomyia hominivorax nos tecidos vivos de animais de sangue quente. Essas afecções são demasiadamente cruentas e geram severos prejuízos ao bem-estar animal e aos criadores, de forma que seu tratamento é realizado imediatamente após o diagnóstico. | Por se tratar de uma atividade complexa, os estudos de viabilidade econômica de sistemas agroflorestais (SAFs) exigem maior esforço para avaliação. | Geomorphic fracture is a natural geologic formation that sometimes forms a deep fissure in the rock with the establishment of soil and vegetation. The objective of this work was to analyze vegetation within geomorphic fractures under the effect of wildfire passage. The biometric variables evaluated before and after fire passage were: diameter, height, leaf area index, timber volume, grass biomass, number of trees and shrubs and of species.
