Analisis de la calidad de la leche en un modelo microeconomico multi-output: el papel de la genetica AgEcon
Alvarez, Antonio; Arias, Carlos; Roibas, David.
Abstract In this paper we analyze the influence of genetics on milk quality. For that purpose, we use a multi-output production model in which milk quality is...

ESTIMATION OF A U.S. DAIRY SECTOR MODEL BY MAXIMUM SIMULATED LIKELIHOOD AgEcon
Arias, Carlos; Cox, Thomas L..
This paper estimates a multivariate tobit system of monthly wholesale dairy prices where 4 prices are lower censored by the dairy price support program. Using Maximum Simulated Likelihood (MSL) we test/correct for the effects of simulation noise and present two tests for estimating multivariate versus the singel tobit equations.

Using Maximum Simulated Likelihood (MSL) we test/correct for the effects of simulation noise and discuss the relevance of estimating multivariate versus the single Tobit equations.

EXPLORING ALTERNATIVES FOR ESTIMATING SYSTEMS OF EQUATIONS WITH MULTIPLE CENSORED VARIABLES: FARM OUTPUT SUPPLY AND INPUT DEMAND AgEcon
Arias, Carlos; Perali, Carlo Federico.
This paper explores two alternatives for estimating systems of equations with multiple censored variables: Maximum Simulated Likelihood and a two-step technique that seems to be well suited for large samples. The empirical part of the paper estimates a system of cost, cost shares and revenue shares equations of Italian farms using both approaches.

MAXIMUM SIMULATED LIKELIHOOD: A BRIEF INTRODUCTION FOR PRACTITIONERS AgEcon
Arias, Carlos; Cox, Thomas L..
This paper discusses the increasing importance of probability simulation methods in the context of Maximum Simulated Likelihood. Three probability simulators are analyzed following their chronological order of appearance. This analysis provides an intuitive approach to the basic idea behind probability simulation, the successive improvements and probable future developments. The paper pays special attention to the role of simulation noise in Maximum Simulated Likelihood.
