The work aims at elaborating an investigative methodology which can highlight the transformation of territorial structures and the social-economic dynamics that influence management of the territory and landscape in order to provide operative instructions for an integrated elaboration of instruments for urban planning and economic programming. The investigation has taken into consideration, using GIS instrument, the evolution of the landscape, of the road network, of the settlements and of the socio-economic system in the period that goes from the early decades of the 19th century to the present period. The territory for analysis is situated along the "internal Marche ridge" of the Apennines, in the province of Ancona (Marche region). |

The paper presents an analysis of the Fischler reform, while the new rural development policy for the seven year period 2007-2013 is still to be defined and other important deadlines are going to mark the near future: WTO negotiation, new Financial Perspectives, new European structural and cohesion policy, and the enlargement process is rolling on. The AgroGeoTrace (AGT) project makes use of Geographical Information Systems and multichannel information technologies to facilitate the access of final consumers to local food speciality products. The project builds a prototype of an informative system designed, first, to help consumers to understand the agronomic and technological characteristics that make the targeted products special ones, and, second, to precisely and easily locate the sites (farms and oil mills) where they can buy them. The paper analyses how different aspects connected with regulations can influence the consumers’ quality perception and the value that consumers attribute to the wine sector products. In particular, aspects concerning labelling and presentation of designations of origin, which, in turn, mirror different regulations of production methods, are considered. Consumers’ preference can allow enterprises to complying with more restrictive rules and sustain higher costs for differentiate their products and achieve higher quality.
