An annotated checklist of the lizards of French Guiana, mainly based on two recent collections Naturalis
Hoogmoed, M.S.; Lescure, J..
At the moment 36 species of lizards (6 Gekkonidae, 12 Iguanidae, 1 Scincidae and 17 Teiidae) are known for certain to occur in French Guiana. Of these 36 species, four are reported from that country for the first time (Anolis marmoratus speciosus Garman, Cercosaura o. ocellata Wagler, Prionodactylus argulus (W. Peters) and Tretioscincus agilis (Ruthven)). Moreover, there remain four species of which the occurrence in French Guiana is very likely and which presumably will be found when more lizards are collected by specialists. Eleven species were erroneously reported from French Guiana by various authors. The reasons for their removal from the list of French Guianese lizards are given. The zoogeographical conclusions of Hoogmoed (1973) remain valid,...

Etude taxinomique de Rhinoclemmys punctularia punctularia (Daudin) (Testudinata, Emydidae) Naturalis
Fretey, J.; Hoogmoed, M.S.; Lescure, J..
The type of Rhinoclemmys punctularia (Daudin), from Cayenne, is redescribed. The main variations in the supracephalic pattern of the nominal subspecies are evocated. Rhinoclemmys punctularia lunata (Gray) is not a subspecies geographically restricted to Surinam but a rare individual aberration of R. p. punctularia, which is the Guianan subspecies.

A new genus and two new species of minute leptodactylid frogs from northern South America, with comments upon Phyzelaphryne (Amphibia: Anura: Leptodactylidae) Naturalis
Hoogmoed, M.S.; Lescure, J..
The synonymisation of Phyzelaphryne miriamae Heyer with Eleutherodactylus nigrovittatus Andersson is denied and it is shown that both species are quite distinct in numerous characters. A new genus (Adelophryne) of minute leptodactylid frogs with pointed discs on the toes and a distinctly reduced fourth finger, containing two new species (A. adiastola spec. nov. and A. gutturosa spec. nov.) is described from northern South America. A key to separate the diminutive leptodactylid frogs with pointed toetips is given. The relationships of the new genus are not clear, but possibly are with one of the species groups of Eleutherodactylus, of the subfamily Eleutherodactylinae.
