The increasing use of invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures in cardiovascular diseases makes it important that the type and frequency of vascular variations are well documented and understood. Sound knowledge of neurovascular variations is important for surgeons who remove axillary lymph nodes, to anesthesiologists, and orthopedic surgeons, considering the frequency of procedures done in this region. An unusual variation in the branching pattern of axillary artery was observed on the left side of a 60 year old female cadaver. Unilateral Double Axillary and Double Brachial Arteries: Embryological Basis and Clinical Implications International Journal of Morphology

This report presents double axillary and double brachial arteries on the right side of an adult male cadaver. In this case, the right axillary artery bifurcated into axillary artery I and axillary artery II posterior to the pectoralis minor muscle. Both the axillary arteries with their branches traversed upto lower border of teres major muscle and continued further as seperate entities into the cubital fossa as brachial artery I and brachial artery II respectively. A large range of variability marks the branching pattern of the axillary artery. The knowledge of the anatomical variations and this pattern is essential to diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, including surgery, of the axillary region. The aim of this study was to observe the different possible origins of circumflex humeral arteries and to measure the length and diameter of each vessel. In our study, 24 armpits from adult cadavers (fixed in tamponed formalin 10%) were dissected. The data were analyzed with a digital caliper and the results expressed as Mean ± SD. Abnormal Branching of the Axillary Artery: Subscapular Common Trunk. A Case Report International Journal of Morphology

An unusual unilateral variation in the branching pattern of axillary artery was observed in a 60 year oíd female embalmed cadáver. The axillary artery had only two branches arising from its proximal (first) part and no branches from its remaining distal (second & third) parts. The branches are superior thoracic (usual) and another large collateral (unusual) branch. This collateral branch is the origin of several important arteries as the circumflex scapular, thoracodorsal, posterior circumflex humeral, thoraco-acromial and lateral thoracic arteries. Multiple Variations in the Axillary Arterial Tree Relevant to Plastic Surgery: A Case Report International Journal of Morphology

While dissecting the body of a 59 years old male cadaver we observed "abnormal" branching pattern of the axillary artery and unusual vascular pedicles of the serratus anterior muscle. The serratus anterior branch originated directly first part of the axillary artery as the first branch. The lateral thoracic and thoracodorsal arteries arose together from the third part of the axillary artery as "a lateral thoracic-thoracodorsal"common trunk. The axilla is a relatively small pyramidal compartment between the thoracic wall and the arm, which contains muscles and vital neurovascular bundles. They are important for their clinical and morphological reasons. We report an anomalous latissimocondyloideus muscle and a rare variant of the axillary artery, which lies beneath the anomalous muscle. The anomaly is one of its kind. Anomalous Branching Patterns of the Axillary Artery International Journal of Morphology

Arterial variations in the upper limbs can cause iatrogenic injury during invasive procedures. During educational dissection of countered uncommon branching patterns of the axillary artery which have not yet been reported yet, to our knowledge. First, the second part of the axillary artery was divided into three trunks. The lateral trunk ran downward as a superficial brachioradial artery. The medial trunk raised the lateral thoracic artery, and was divided into the subscapular artery and the posterior circumflex humeral artery.
