During the revision of South American species of Gutierrezia (Asteraceae, Astereae) taxonomic novelties were established: (1) two new varieties were described, Gutierrezia mandonii var. anomala from northwestern Argentina, and Gutierrezia isernii var. nivea from central and western Argentina; and (2) the species Gutierrezia pulviniformis was included as a new synonym of Gutierrezia spathulata.

Taxonomic position and identity of Stenocephalum monticola (Vernonieae, Asteraceae) Naturalis

The genus Stenocephalum (Vernonieae, Asteraceae) includes six South American species that have cylindrical heads, 4–11 florets by capitula, cymose inflorescences and type ‘C’ pollen. Until now, Stenocephalum monticola has been considered as a synonym of S. apiculatum. However, the analysis of the type material and additional specimens indicate that it is a quite different species, which differs in leaf size, pubescence and capitula arrangement. Stenocephalum monticola has leaves of 9–20 mm long, leaf blades villous at the base and capitula agglomerate at the stems tips, while S. apiculatum presents leaves of 30–60 mm long, leaf blades basally glabrous and heads mostly solitary, arranged in a pseudo-spiciform inflorescence. Taxonomic value of histochemical features of the style in early lineages of Asteraceae Acta Botanica

In this paper we examine lipophilic substances, tannins, proteins, reducing carbohydrates, starch, and oxalate salts in early lineages of Asteraceae to test if they are a useful complement to classification studies. Styles of mature flowers of 44 species were processed according to plant histochemical techniques and observed by means of a light microscope. Lipophilic compounds were always present in the cuticle and cell walls, and in some species were located inside the cells. Proteins were located in the style cell walls and cell interior of most of the analyzed species. No tannins were found. Una nueva especie de Leucheria (Asteraceae), endémica de Chile. Boletín de la Sociedad
KATINAS,LILIANA; CRISCI,JORGE V.; MARTICORENA,ALICIA.
Se describe e ilustra una nueva especie de Leucheria Lag. (Asteraceae, Nassauvieae), L. meladensis Katinas, Crisci & A.E. Martic, con hojas enteras, elípticas, pecioladas y levemente pubescentes. Esta sería la única especie endémica de la Reserva Nacional Bellotos del Melado, a los 35º S, en la provincia de Linares, región del Maule en Chile. Se presenta una clave de las especies que habitan la provincia de Linares.
