| The endemic Neotropical long-horned caddisfly subgenus Notalina (Neonotalina) Holzenthal contains nine described species in two species groups, the brasiliana and roraima groups, from the Brazilian Southeastern and Amazonian regions, respectively. In this paper, a new species of Notalina in the brasiliana species group, from Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, Goiás state, Brazil, is described and illustrated. | Piauçus (Leporinus macrocephalus), were raised in 300 m² ponds (density of 10 fish/m²) presenting asphyxia signals and daily mortality of 27 fishes. Specimens with 8-cm total body length, were collected for necropsy. Mucus of body surface and pieces of organs were collected and examined microscopically, in wet mounts, stained or in histological sections. The smears examination showed the presence of several spores in the secondary lamellae of the gill filaments, identified as Henneguya leporinicola n.sp (Myxozoa: Myxobolidae). Histopatological study showed epithelial hyperplasia and fulfilling of the spaces between the secondary lamellae, congestion and teleangiectasia sinusoidal. | Elaborou-se uma chave ilustrada, baseando-se na comparacao de caracteristicas morfologicas e morfometricas dos estadios iniciais, quando as larvas ainda sao encontradas no plancton, a deriva no rio. A chave possui a descricao das cinco principais especies utilizadas economicamente no Pantanal: pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus), curimbata (Prochilodus lineatus), dourado (Salminus maxillosus), piavucu (Leporinus macrocephalus). As especies pintado (Pseudoplatystoma corruscans) e cachara (Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum), por nao apresentarem nenhuma diferenca nas caracteristicas utilizadas nas descricoes, foram incluidas em Pseudoplatystoma sp. As descricoes foram feitas a partir de amostras obtidas em condicoes artificiais. |

| Background: Cymothoa frontalis Milne Edward, 1840 is a very poorly described cymothoid, notwithstanding the previous redescription of the female. Pertinently, to date, the host of C. frontalis has not been identified with adequate precision. Most of the descriptions of cymothoids carried out hitherto were based primarily on females, but practically ignoring other life cycle stages. The present paper redescribes the female and describes other life cycle stages of the species C. frontalis to get better precision in their identification. | The diffusion of highly productive breeds across developing countries goes along with a neglect of indigenous breeds, which are well suited to their environment but often show low yields. Thus, in Niger, the flock of Koundoum sheep are rapidly decreasing. The Koundoum is one of the few wool sheep breeds of Africa and shows important adaptive feature to its native environment, i.e. the humid pastures on the banks of the Niger River.
