| The position taken in this study is that long run sustainability is a complex and context dependent concept, implying that the estimation of value depends on the issues at stake, the decision actors involved and the criteria being emphasised. Sustainability connects the economic process explicitly to the natural environment and the study elucidates how thermodynamics can supplement, although not substitute economic analyses. Both natural and social systems are multidimensional and changes are difficult to assess in a simple, one-dimensional way. | Bu çalışma, yöresel organik artık olan fındık zurufunun (taze ve kompost hali) organik tarımda yaygın olarak kullanılan organik ticari gübrelerin yerine kullanılma durumunu ve kullanılan miktarın azaltılıp azaltılamayacağı, verim ve bazı toprak özellikleri üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla 2008 yılında yürütülmüştür. | Detta ramprogram är tänkt att ligga som grund för forskningssatsningar inom området ekologiskt lantbruk under den kommande femårsperioden (2000-2005). Ramprogrammet är utarbetat i dialog mellan forskare, rådgivare, lantbrukare, konsumenter och andra aktörer inom det ekologiska lantbruket. Arbetet har skett i en öppen process inom ramen för Centrum för uthålligt lantbruks (CUL) verksamhet. Ett hundratal personer har varit involverade i arbetet med att göra en omfattande inventering av kunskapsluckor och kunskapsbehov. | Este trabalho resgata o significado do termo desenvolvimento sustentável e salienta as diferentes ideologias implícitas em duas correntes de pensamento, a ecotecnocrática e a ecossocial. A partir da análise destes enfoques de desenvolvimento, observa-se a insustentabilidade da agricultura convencional e destacam-se os princípios da Agroecologia no processo de construção de estilos de agricultura sustentável. | Agroforestry is a land-use system that integrates trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock production. It has been identified by the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD, 2008) as a ‘win-win’ approach that balances the production of commodities (food, feed, fuel, fibre, etc.) with non-commodity outputs such as environmental protection and cultural and landscape amenities. This paper will review the potential of agroforestry as part of a multifunctional working landscape in temperate regions, and will consider management and policy implications of widespread adoption of this form of land-use. |

| Potato seed tubers are usually cut into blocks to reduce seed cost, break dormancy and induce dominance. In chemical farming, the cut surface is usually treated with fungicides to avoid infection. In the present research, the cut surface of the seed tuber blocks was treated with a microbial inoculum mixed into bamboo charcoal powder and dried for a moment. Inoculating and drying the cut trace of seed tuber blocks induced activation of the antioxidant enzymes SOD and POD. Properly drying the cut trace induced osmotic adjustment, leaf turgor improvement, disease resistance and yield increase in the potato crop. Araştırma, Gaziantep/Oğuzeli ilçesinde bulunan, çiftçi bağında 2002-2009 yılları arasında, yüksek goble şekli verilen ve 4 x 4 m dikilmiş Dımışkı üzüm çeşidi bağında yürütülmüştür. | O objetivo do presente trabalho foi verificar a viabilidade econômica do consórcio das hortaliças alface e cenoura. Os dados analisados foram obtidos em experimento realizado numa propriedade rural localizada na região da Bacia do Alto Pacuí, Montes Claros – MG.
