Nesse documento encontram-se as informacoes coletadas e organizadas pelo SISTEMA DE CONTROLE DA PESCA DE MATO GROSSO DO SUL - SCPESCA/MS, para o periodo de maio/1994 a abril/1995. Essas informacoes foram obtidas para todo o pescado (profissional e esportivo) oficialmente vistoriado e desembarcado no Estado. Foi registrado um total de 1.433,5 toneladas de pescado, onde 28,1% corresponde a pesca profissional e a 71,9% a pesca esportiva. As especies mais capturadas foram: pacu (655,9t), pintado (253,5t), cachara (104,5t), piranha (duas especies, 77,0t), piavucu (69,3t), barbado (68,8t), dourado (63,4t), jau (42,0t) e curimbata (20,6t). Neste documento encontram-se as informacoes coletadas e organizadas pelo Sistema de Controle da Pesca de Mato Grosso do Sul - SCPESCA/MS, para o ano de 1995. Essas informacoes foram obtidas para todo o pescado (profissional e esportivo) oficialmente vistoriado e desembarcado no Estado. Foi registrado um total de 1.399 toneladas de pescado, onde 31,4% correspondem a pesca profissional e a 68,6% a pesca esportiva. As especies mais capturadas foram: pacu (427t), pintado (280t), piavucu (129t), cachara (108t), jau (55t), barbado (50t) e piranha (48t). Taxonomy, ecology and fishery of Lake Victoria haplochromine trophic groups Naturalis

Based on ecological and morphological features, the 300 or more haplochromine cichlid species of Lake Victoria are classified into fifteen (sub)trophic groups. A key to the trophic groups, mainly based on external morphological characters, is presented. Of each trophic group a description is given comprising data on taxonomy, ecology and fishery. As far as possible data from the period before the Nile perch upsurge and from the present situation are compared. A list of described species classified into trophic groups is added.

Temporal changes in caiçara artisanal fishing and alternatives for management: a case study on the southeastern Brazilian coast Biota Neotropica

This paper describes a case study of the changes in fishing that occurred in a Brazilian coastal community after a 10 year interval (1992-2002). There was a decrease in the mean amount of fish caught daily (from 14 kg to 11.32 kg) and annually (from 4.2 t to 3.4 t) and in the richness of species caught (from 21 to 17 species); there was also a low similarity in the species composition of the fish landings (Morisita-Horn index Ch = 0.24). These changes suggested a decline in the locally exploited fish populations, which probably caused the discontinuation of commercial artisanal fishing. However, the diversity of fish caught by hook and line and purse-seine fishing was higher in the second period, whereas there was no significant difference in the diversity...

The influence of fiscal regulations on investment in marine fisheries: A French case study ArchiMer

Analysing investment drivers in fisheries is essential in understanding the long-term development of fishing capacity. This paper addresses the drivers of investment in the French commercial fishing fleets operating along the Atlantic coast, and the role of public policies have had on investment. First, we examine the changes in the capital value of the fleet, which was strongly impacted by decommissioning schemes during the nineties. We then examine drivers of investment using an unbalanced panel data set describing the investment decisions of a sample of firms over the period 1994-2004. Introduction : It is now clear that the world's fishery resources are being subjected to exploitation at or above their capacity to produce maximum sustainable yields. At the same time as these trends are being felt, there is a very large wastage of fishery resources from discarding unwanted catches at sea. At the end of each fishing operation a part of the catch is often returned to the sea after sorting by the fishermen. A 1994 FAO report provided an estimate of global discards in commercial fisheries of 27 millions of tons per year compared to 50 million tons of direct human consumption. During long-term monitoring, protocols suitable in the initial context may have to change afterward because of unforeseen events. The outcome for management can be important if the consequences of changing protocols are not understood. In Tuamotu Archipelago atolls, French Polynesia, the density of giant clams (Tridacna maxima) has been monitored for 12years, but massive mortalities and collapsing densities forced to shift from a line-intercept transects and quadrats (LIT-Q) method to a belt-transect (BT) method. Изучали внутривидовую дифференциацию и структуру запаса шпрота из разных районов северо-западной части Черного моря. В качестве популяционных характеристик использованы следующие параметры возрас­тной структуры: общее количество поколений (годовых классов), относительная численность разных поко­лений, средний возраст особей в популяции, средние размеры одновозрастных особей.
