| The industrial treatment of seeds has favored the development of new technologies such as the use of dry powder. It has made application of spray volumes higher than those used in the conventional treatment. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the effect of industrial treatments at different spray volumes with and without application of dry powder on physiological quality of soybean seeds. A completely randomized experimental design was performed with four replications in a 5 x 2 factorial arrangement for cultivars BRS 359 RR and BRS 284. The factors were five spray volumes (0, 600, 1200, 1800 and 2400 mL. 100 kg-1) with and without the application of dry powder. | ABSTRACT: Horseweed control through application of 2.4-D in the winter season is an alternative to manage biotypes resistant to herbicides that belong to other mechanisms of action. The objectives of this study were to assess the physiological quality of wheat seeds and determine the rate of 2.4-D residue, as function of application stages and herbicide rates. The treatments were arranged in factorial scheme, with three application stages (flowering, soft dough and hard dough), and four 2.4-D rates (0; 504; 1,008 and 2,015 g a.i. ha-1). | ABSTRACT The season of harvest is one of the most important factors influencing seed quality. This study evaluated the effect of different harvesting times on the physiological quality of Coriandrum sativum L. seeds, cv. Palmeira. The experimental design was completely randomized, with six treatments (harvest times) and four replications. The experiment was conducted during the months of April to October 2010. The first moment to harvest seeds was carried out 15 days after full bloom, when approximately 50% of plants were in flowering phase. | Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho estudar a perda de viabilidade das sementes de duas variedades de Vigna unguiculata, acondicionadas em embalagens de papel e recipiente metálico, armazenados em ambiente não controlado. Após a colheita das sementes, em campos preparados para esta finalidade, as mesmas foram beneficiadas manualmente, tratadas, acondicionadas e armazenadas, para que a cada dois meses fossem avaliadas quanto a sua qualidade fisiológica mediante teste de germinação, indicando a melhor capacidade armazenadora para a condição do estudo. | Cucumis melo is one of the most appreciated and consumed vegetables in the world, however, producing areas have been suffering from increased salinity in irrigation water. Therefore, accesses of melon, from the germplasm bank of the Federal Rural Semi-Arid University (UFERSA), were tested for salinity and the physiological responses of the seedlings were evaluated. For the 24 accesses of C. melo, salinity of 0.06 and 3.45 dS m-1 was applied. | Estudou-se o efeito da colheita mecanica sobre a qualidade de sementes de sorgo (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) cultivar BR 007. Foram considerados 12 tratamentos, resultantes da combinacao de tres faixas de umidade da semente na colheita (22 a 25%, 18 a 22% e 16 a 18%), com tres rotacoes do cilindro batedor da colheitadeira (470, 680 e 890rpm) e a colheita manual. A qualidade da semente foi avaliada pelo testes de germinacao, emergencia no campo e vigor (frio modificado e indice de velocidade de emergencia) e nos experimentos conduzidos durante dois anos agricola 1987 e 1988, em Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais.
