Construction and characterization of a recombinant vaccine encoding the nucleocapsid protein gene of avian infectious bronchitis virus Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Ritterbusch,G.A.; Esteves,P.A.; Trevisol,I.M.; Okino,C.H.; Jaenisch,F.R.F.; Morés,M.A.Z.; Caron,L.; Silva,A.D.; Finger,P.F.; Hübner,S.O..
A resposta imunológica do...

Do whole-body vibration exercise and resistance exercise modify concentrations of salivary cortisol and immunoglobulin A? BJMBR
Roschel,H.; Barroso,R.; Batista,M.; Ugrinowitsch,C.; Tricoli,V.; Arsati,F.; Lima-Arsati,Y.B.; Araújo,V.C.; Moreira,A..
A single bout of resistance exercise (RE) induces hormonal and immune responses, playing an important role in a long-term adaptive process. Whole-body vibration (WBV) has also been shown to affect hormonal responses. Evidence suggests that combining WBV with RE may amplify hormonal and immune responses due to the increased neuromuscular load. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate salivary cortisol (Scortisol) and salivary IgA (SIgA) concentrations following a RE session combined or not with WBV. Nine university students (22.9 ± 5.1 years, 175.8 ± 5.2 cm, and 69.2 ± 7.3 kg) performed five sets of squat exercise (70% one-repetition-maximum) combined (R+V30) or not (R) with WBV at 30 Hz. Saliva samples were obtained before and after exercise....

São Paulo School of Advanced Sciences on Vaccines: an overview J. Venom. Anim. Toxins incl. Trop. Dis.
Sorgi,Sara; Bonezi,Vivian; Dominguez,Mariana R.; Gimenez,Alba Marina; Dobrescu,Irina; Boscardin,Silvia; Nakaya,Helder I.; Bargieri,Daniel Y.; Soares,Irene S.; Silveira,Eduardo L. V..
Abstract Two years ago, we held an exciting event entitled the São Paulo School of Advanced Sciences on Vaccines (SPSASV). Sixty-eight Ph.D. students, postdoctoral fellows and independent researchers from 37 different countries met at the Mendes Plaza Hotel located in the city of Santos, SP - Brazil to discuss the challenges and the new frontiers of vaccinology. The SPSASV provided a critical and comprehensive view of vaccine research from basics to the current state-of-the-art techniques performed worldwide. For 10 days, we discussed all the aspects of vaccine development in 36 lectures, 53 oral presentations and 2 poster sessions. At the end of the course, participants were further encouraged to present a model of a grant proposal related to vaccine...

Effects of Different Dietary Levels of Two Types of Olive Pulp and Exogenous Enzyme Supplementation on the Gastrointestinal tract size, Immunology and Hematology of Broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Sayehban,P; Seidavi,A; Dadashbeiki,M; Ghorbani,A; Araújo,WAG; Albino,LFT.
ABSTRACT The effects of the dietary inclusion of olive pulp (OP) and the supplementation of a commercial enzyme blend (ENZ) on the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) size, and immune and hematological parameters were evaluated. In total, 600 one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chicks were divided into 6 treatments according to a completely randomized design, in a 2×2×2 factorial scheme, consisting of the dietary inclusion of two olive pulp levels (50 and 100 g/kg in diet), two pulp categories (processed and unprocessed), and the inclusion or not of an enzyme blend. On d 42, birds were euthanized and blood samples were collected, and lymphoid, hematologic, and GIT organs were measured. The inclusion of 100g/kg OP in the diets increased jejunum relative weight (J%)...

Effect of Two Strains of Probiotics on the Antioxidant Capacity, Oxidative Stress, and Immune Responses of Salmonella-Challenged Broilers Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Abudabos,AM; Alyemni,AH; Zakaria,HAH.
Abstract The present study aimed at evaluating the effect of two strains of probiotics (Bacillus subtilis PB6 and Bacillus Cereus var. toyoi) on selected indicators of the antioxidant status and immune responses of broilers before and after challenge with Salmonella enterica subsp. Typhimurium (S. typhimurium). Birds were distributed into the following five treatments: negative control (CTL−); negative control+S. typhimurium (CTL+); antibiotic+S. typhimurium, (AB); Toyocerin(r)+S. typhimurium (TOYO); and CloSTATTM+ S. typhimurium (CLOS). Birds in all treatments, except for CTL−, were orally challenged with 3 x109 CFUS. typhimurium at 16 days of age. The results showed that total antioxidant capacity (TAC), superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), and hydrogen...
