Estimering af hvidkløver i afgræsningsmarken Organic Eprints

Andelen af hvidkløver i afgræsningsmarker bestemt ved visuel vurdering overvurderer indholdet af hvidkløver i forhold til botanisk bestemmelse baseret på planteprøver som håndsorteres. Forskellen er størst i foråret ved lille afgræsningshøjde. Ved bedømmelser af hvidkløverandelen ved 20 til 50 stikprøver fordelt tilfældigt på større arealer kan den visuelt bestemte kløverandel omregnes til botanisk bestemt indhold ved de udledte ligninger, med en sikkerhed på 2-3%-enheder.

Etablierung ausgewählter Arten zur Nachsaat in ökologisch bewirtschafteten Grünlandbeständen in Abhängigkeit von Nachsaattechnik und Standort Organic Eprints

Die Artenzusammensetzung des Grünlandes verändert sich in Abhängigkeit der Nutzungsdauer, des Nutzungsregimes und von Bewirtschaftungsmaßnahmen. Daher ist eine regelmäßige Bewertung der Grünlandnarbe und der Artenzusammensetzung notwendig. Eine Grünlandverbesserung kann durch Nachsaaten erreicht werden. Hierfür stehen verschiedene Nachsaattechniken und Arten zur Verfügung. Der Nachsaaterfolg von ausgewählten Futterpflanzenarten, die für den Ökologischen Landbau von besonderer Bedeutung sein können, wurde mit zwei unterschiedlichen Nachsaattechniken auf insgesamt 8 Standorten in Nordwestdeutschland geprüft.

Poa pratensis is one of the most important grass species in Alpine region with a high protection against weed infestation. The most difficulties for an establishment in permanent grassland are a steady juvenile growth and a low competitive strength during this time. In a four-year (2008-2011) field trial the establishment of P. pratensis using continuous grazing in permanent grassland was investigated at the organic grassland and dairy farm of the AREC Raumberg-Gumpenstein. Variant 1 was used under a three times cutting management. Catch crops, especially leguminous catch crops, may increase crop nitrogen (N) supply and decrease environmental impacts in cropping systems, but they may also stimulate nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions following spring incorporation. In this 28-day laboratory incubation study, we examined the carbon (C) and N dynamics and N2O evolution after simulated incorporation of residues from three catch crop species into a loamy sand soil, with variable soil moisture (40, 50 or 60% water-filled pore space (WFPS)). The knowledge about Lucerne as part of the grass sward in systems with intensive grazing is limited, therefore some additional registration has been made both in year 2007 when the sward was established and during the period of utilization in 2008 (Table 1). Die Auswertung von Praxisdaten bestätigte die Modellrechnungen. Bei der Berechnung der Flächenproduktivität sollte die realisierte Milchleistung anteilig der Energiezufuhr aufgeteilt werden. Für Betriebe mit einem hohen Anteil am jeweiligen Grobfutter ergeben sich dann realistische Einschätzungen. Andernfalls kann es zu einer starken Unterbewertung von Grünland, Ackerfutter und Weidegang kommen.

Flächenproduktivität in Öko-Milchviehbetrieben in unterschiedlichen Standorten und Regionen Organic Eprints

The productivity of forage land and of dairy cow pastures has been investigated in Organic dairy farms in North Germany and the Netherlands. The energy yields of the forage land varied between the farms from 18030 to 62707 MJ NEL per ha. The yields clearly indicate regional differences between the farms. In 2011 the grazing time lasted more than 200 days per year and is partly due to the application of the continuous grazing system with short grass swards. As milk and energy yields are concerned dairy cow pastures appeared to be high yielding.

In different regions of Central Europe data of 34 Organic Dairy Farms have been recorded in 2014. The productivity of the pasture land was quite different, however, within the range of 8597 to 9721 kg milk/ha, depending on the region, the yield was the highest productivity has been achieved with growth heights of the sward less than 5 cm (plastic cover method; heights without feed remains). The milk yield/cow was highest in spring and declined until the end of October by 4.1 to 8.6 kg ECM/cow (the latter value in South Germany with mainly seasonal calving in spring.

Forage botanical and chemical composition on dairy farms with different grassland systems and production systems Organic Eprints

Thirty-two dairy farms in Middle-Norway with different grassland systems (short-term (<4 years) grassland (S) or long-term (>7 years) grassland (L)) and different production systems (organic (O) or conventional (C)) were compared in a field study in 2007. In a principal component analysis on variables including farm details, botanical composition and chemical forage composition, the farms were separated into organic and conventional farms with the exception of one farm. Amongst the organic farms most SO farms were distinguished from LO farms. Concentration of forage crude protein was positively correlated with proportion of grass. Forage feeding value of continuous grazed sward on organic permanent grassland Organic Eprints

Continuous grazing provides low-cost forage with a high feeding value for milk and beef production and is a suitable pasture system in organic farming. To assess the forage feeding value of continuously grazed sward, a 3-field trial was carried out under harsh east Alpine conditions (680 m altitude, 7°C average temperature, 1000 mm annual precipitation). Forage contents of net energy (6.3-7.0 MJ NEL kg-1 DM) and crude protein (202-236 g kg-1 DM) varied on a high level during the vegetation period. The objective of this paper was to examine how cutting frequency, silage fermentation patterns and clover performance in grass–clover swards influence the use of inputs and profitability in an organic dairy system. A linear programming model was developed to compare a three-cut and a two-cut system for a model farm in Central Norway, either with restricted or extensive silage fermentation at low or high red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) proportion in the sward, giving 8 different silage types in all. Ensilage of red clover results in lower concentrations of non-protein nitrogen compared to other forage legumes. It is assumed that the polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity in red clover is related to this effect. Therefore, a laboratory ensiling trial was carried out to quantify the changes in crude protein (CP) fractions during the ensiling process using the Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System. At four cutting dates, fresh, wilted and ensiled herbage of three red clover genotypes and white clover grown in two systems (with and without mechanical stress) was sampled.
