Bioweizenanbau: Qualität im Fokus Organic Eprints

Bioweizen wird grösstenteils industriell verarbeitet. Dies setzt eine konstante Qualität von mindestens 29 Prozent Feuchtgluten (FGL) voraus. Diese Anforderungen werden nicht von allen Bioweizen-Produzenten erfüllt. Von Jahr zu Jahr gibt es grosse Schwankungen. Im Projekt Bioweizenqualität sucht das FiBL im Auftrag der Bio Suisse nach den Ursachen und nach Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten.

Für den gesamten Bereich des Ölfrüchteanbaus bestehen deutliche Unterschiede zwischen dem ökologischen und dem konventionellen Anbau. Diese Unterschiede beziehen sich sowohl auf die im Anbau befindlichen Ölfruchtarten und deren jeweilige Bedeutung als auch auf die Anforderungen an die Kulturführung und die Vermarktungs- und Nachfragesituation. Die Anbaubedeutung von Ölsaaten im Ökologischen Landbau ist bislang immer noch gering.

La plupart du blé bio est transformé par l’industrie qui demande une teneur de gluten humide (TGH) minimale de 29 pourcent. Cette exigence n’est pas atteinte par tous les producteurs bio. D’années en années, on observe une forte variation. Dans le cadre du projet «qualité du blé bio» mandaté par Bio Suisse, le FiBL effectue des recherches sur l’origine du problème et sur les possibilités d’amélioration.

Biorapsöl ist gefragt. Der biologische Anbau von Raps ist aber anspruchsvoll. Vor allem der Rapsglanzkäfer kann für grosse Ertragseinbussen sorgen. Eine direkte Bekämpfung des Käfers ist derzeit nicht möglich. Deshalb muss mit vorbeugenden Massnahmen versucht werden, die Käfer in Schach zu halten. Das Merkblatt zeigt wie der Käfer lebt und gibt Auskunft über die Bekämpfungsmöglichkeiten und den Stand der Forschung.

Rape pollen beetle Organic Eprints

Organic rapeseed oils is in demand. But the organic rape cultivation is difficult. Especially the pollen beetle causes big yield losses. As there is currently no allowed direct control measure, preventive measures have to be used. The leaflet provides some information about the biology of the pollen beetle and about methods of identifying it. It also provides some information about monitoring and possible preventive measures. Since pollen beetles affect closed buds, supporting fast growth and flowering is an important measure. Finally, the current research is discussed.

The research-network PRODIVA focuses on a better utilization of crop diversification for weed management in North European arable cropping systems. The goal is to maintain diverse arable weed vegetation that is manageable in the long-term and could fulfil other necessary system-functions including support of beneficial organisms. The partners in PRODIVA will synthesize knowledge from terminated and running research projects and set-up selected new experiments on cover crops and variety resp. crop mixtures. Die Aktivierung und Stärkung des pflanzlichen Immunsystems ist eine vielversprechende Alternative im Pflanzenschutz. Das Konzept umfasst eine Sensibilisierung (priming) der Kulturpflanzen gegenüber Pathogenen, die einen hohen Ernteertrag auch unter Pathogendruck gewährleistet. Bakterielle quorum sensing Moleküle haben die Eigenschaft, Pflanzen zu sensibilisieren und sind deshalb eine mögliche Ergänzung zum Einsatz von Pflanzenschutzmaßnahmen. Verbesserung der Jugendentwicklung von Sojabohnen durch Priming und Saatgutbeigaben Organic Eprints

Vorstellung des laufenden Projektes: Eine zügige, gleichmäßige und kräftige Jugendentwicklung ist ein entscheidender Faktor für eine gute Bestandsentwicklung von Sojapflanzen. Im vorliegenden Projekt soll untersucht werden wie die Jugendentwicklung von Sojapflanzen positiv beeinflusst werden kann, speziell bei kühlen Temperaturen. Priming (Vorquellen der Samen in Wasser) kann zu einer beschleunigten Keimung der Samen führen. Die Beigabe von bestimmten Mikroorganismen (PGPR und VAM) sowie bestimmten Isoflavonoiden zur Saat soll das Jugendwachstum stärken. Aus der besten Vorquellzeit und der besten Saatgutbeigabe soll in Zusammenarbeit mit der KWS Saat AG ein Inkrustierungsverfahren entwickelt werden.

Modification/change of sowing date in winter wheat Organic Eprints

The purpose of this tool is to advise farmers and crop advisors on modifications that can be made to sowing time in winter wheat based cropping systems that reduce weed, disease and pest pressures. This is for systems where there are reduced use of pesticides. The tool is a presentation that covers a number of strategies including sowing date and variety choice that will improve the performance of the crop. The tool is not specific for organic farming. The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) under the grant agreement n°265865

Essential oils can have an impact on pollen beetle (Meligethes spp.). Lavender oil (Lavendula angustifolia) showed the highest repellency value in a previous laboratory study (Mauchline et al., 2005). However, lavender oil is one of the most expensive essential oils – a fact that could seriously hamper on-farm implementation of this strategy. To find a cheaper essential oil with comparable efficacy to lavender oil, we compared the essential oils of Mentha arvensis, Eucalyptus globulus, Melaleuca alternifolia, Citrus sinensis, Citrus paradisi, Citrus limon, Juniperus mexicana, Abies sibirica, Illicium verum, Gaultheria procumbens, Cymbopogon flexuosus, Syzygium aromaticum, and Litsea cubeba using a Y-tube-olfactometer. Root and foot rot is economically important disease of peas and is caused by complex of more than 20 different species of soil-borne pathogens. In recent years in Germany, Fusarium avenaceum is emerging as important and devastating pathogen and it is together with several other species, including F. solani, F. oxysporum, F. redolens and Phoma medicaginis among the casual agents of the disease that is commonly referred to as pea root rot complex. In 2012, after severe black frost in February that caused failure of the pea crop, F. avenaceum was isolated in high percentage, 42% of assessed roots. Saatwicke: unterschätze Körnerleguminose Organic Eprints

Versuche am Thünen-Institut für Ökologischen Landbau zeigen, dass Saatwicken auch als Körnerleguminosen angebaut werden können und dabei gut mit Ackerbohne, Erbse und Lupine mithalten. Als Körnerleguminosen ist sie kaum bekannt – die Saatwicke (Vicia sativa) – auch Futter- oder Sommerwicke genannt. Wie die Sommerformen von Ackerbohne, Erbse oder Lupine wird sie im Frühjahr gedrillt. Die Saatwicke ist im Gegensatz zur Zottel- oder Winterwicke (Vicia villosa) nicht winterfest. Somit kann sie beim Anbau als Körnerleguminose auch nicht zum Problemunkraut werden, wenn beim Drusch Ausfallsamen auf dem Acker verbleiben.
