Probabilistic studies of hydrological variables, such as heavy rainfall daily events, constitute an important tool to support the planning and management of water resources, especially for the design of hydraulic structures and erosive rainfall potential. In this context, we aimed to analyze the performance of three probability distribution models (GEV, Gumbel and Gamma two parameter), whose parameters were adjusted by the Moments Method (MM), Maximum Likelihood (ML) and L - Moments (LM). These models were adjusted to the frequencies from long-term of maximum daily rainfall of 8 rain gauges located in Minas Gerais state. Détermination de l'âge et de la croissance de Buccinum undatum L. (Gasteropoda : Prosobranchia) à l'aide des isotopes stables de la coquille et de l'ornementation operculaire ArchiMer

This paper presents a simple method of individual age determination of the gastropod Buccinum undatum, based on the counting of operculum striae. The validation of this method is achieved by the use of several unrelated approaches. As a first step, oxygen stable isotopie analysis is used to check shell records of seasonal temperature fluctuations. We then establish a geometrie correspondence between simultaneously elaborated parts of the shell and the operculum, and show that the mean periodicity of operculum striae formation is annual. With the help of complementary data collected on the fishing grounds, and also of a biometrical study, it is further shown that the age criterion is marked during the warmer months of the year, between June and October....

Étude dynamique de la population de Nucula nucleus (bivalve, protobranche) du cap de Flamanville (Manche) ArchiMer

Annual production and turnover rate of biomass are estimated on a population of the bivalve, Nucula nucleus, dominant on the sublittoral area of Cap de Flamanville (Manche). Investigations on reproductive cycle established on the gonads maturity index over one year indicate a single spawning period in autumn. Age is determined from a study of the ring pattern on the shells, in which annual signification is outlined. The Von Bertalanffy curve and the exponential function give an adequate description of growth and mortality.
