Leaf water potential, nutritional status and must composition in grapes 'Pinot Nero' with and without irrigation 65
Ciotta,Marlise Nara; Ceretta,Carlos Alberto; Tagliavini,Massimo; Zanotelli,Damiano; Moser,Damiano; Nava,Gilberto; Porro,Duilio; Brunetto,Gustavo.
Irrigating vineyard soils can affect grapevine water potential, nutritional status, and must composition. This study aimed to evaluate leaf water potential, nutritional status, and must composition in cv. 'Pinot Nero' grapevines grown with and without irrigation. The experiment was conducted at a commercial vineyard of 'Pinot Nero' 828 grafted on SO4rootstock, established in 2002 in Trento, Northern Italy. The treatments were irrigated (I) and non-irrigated (NI) throughout the 2013 crop season. The criteria evaluated were the water potential of the leaves, total nutrient content in the leaves and berries, and weight of 100 berries, as well as the total soluble solids content, pH, and total titratable acidity of the must. Despite providing a less negative...

ABSTRACT: Content of exchangeable potassium (K) in t soil may influence on its content in grapevines leaves, grape yield, as well as, in must composition. The study aimed to assess the interference of exchangeable K content in the soil on its leaf content, production and must composition of 'Cabernet Sauvignon' cultivar. In September 2011, in Santana do Livramento (RS) five vineyards with increasing levels of exchangeable K in the soil were selected. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 harvests, the grape yield, yield components, total K content in the leaves in full bloom and berries veraison were evaluated. Values of total soluble sugar (TSS), pH, total titratable acidity (TTA), total polyphenols and anthocyanins were evaluated in the must. Exchangeable K content...

Chilling requirements and dormancy evolution in grapevine buds 64
Anzanello,Rafael; Fialho,Flávio Bello; Santos,Henrique Pessoa dos.
ABSTRACT Fluctuations in winter chilling availability impact bud dormancy and budburst. The objective of this work was to determine chilling requirements to induce and overcome endodormancy (dormancy controlled by chilling) of buds in different grape cultivars. ‘Chardonnay’, ‘Merlot’ and ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ shoots were collected in Veranópolis-RS vineyards in 2010, and submitted to a constant 3 °C temperature or daily cycles of 3/15 °C for 12/12h or 18/6h, until reaching 1120 chilling hours (CH, sum of hours with temperature ≤ 7.2 °C). Periodically, part of the samples in each treatment was transferred to 25 °C for budburst evaluation (green tip). Chilling requirements to induce and overcome endodormancy vary among cultivars, reaching a total of 136 CH...

Training systems and rootstocks on yield and agronomic performance of ‘Syrah’ grapevine in the Brazilian semiarid 64
Leão,Patrícia Coelho de Souza; Chaves,Agnaldo Rodrigues de Melo.
ABSTRACT The Vale do São Francisco stands out among the main Brazilian wine regions, and ‘Syrah’ is a grape cultivar very important to produce red wines. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of training systems and rootstocks on the yield and other agronomic variables of ‘Syrah’ grapevines during eight consecutive harvests in the tropical semiarid environment in the Vale do São Francisco. An experiment was carried out in Petrolina, state of Pernambuco, with ‘Syrah’ trained to lyre and espalier systems and grafted on IAC 572, IAC 766, IAC 313, SO4, 1103 Paulsen and Harmony rootstocks. A randomized block design with four replicates and split plots was used. There was a significant interaction between the training system and rootstock for...
