Wederom een nieuwe Juncus voor Nederland Naturalis
Adema, F.; Mennema, J..
Once again a new North American Juncus-species has been found in the Netherlands. In 1972 J. canadensis J. Gay ex Laharpe was discovered in the southern part of the country near Reusel in the province of N.-Brabant (ADEMA, 1974) in connection with a record from Belgium, where the species occurs abundantly now in 6 hour-squares (D’HOSE, 1976). In 1974 J. ensifolius Wikstr. was found in the northern part of the country, viz. along the canalized Sleener stream near Emmen in the province of Drente. The discovery of this new rush for the Netherlands does not elucidate the problem of the origin of North American species in Europe.

WELFARE IMPLICATIONS OF MORE ACCURATE RATIONAL FORECAST PRICES AgEcon
Freebairn, John W..
Models are constructed to assess the welfare effects for producers, consumers and society of producers using forecast prices based on more accurate estimates of variables causing shifts in the demand for and supply of commodities. The basic model is a stochastic cobweb model in which producers' forecast price is the rational forecast price. The model is extended for many commodities, for partial producer response to more accurate forecast prices, and to include stock holding. In terms of economic surplus, producers and consumers gain from more accurate estimates of demand shift variables, producers gain and consumers lose from more accurate estimates of supply shift variables, and in both cases there is a net society gain.

Wood anatomy of the Rhizophoraceae Naturalis
Vliet, G.J.C.M. van.
The wood anatomy of 127 samples of 65 species of all 18 genera of the Rhizophoraceae is described in detail; features not observed here, but recorded in the literature are added. Wood anatomically several groups can be recognized. Three distinct groups are very homogeneous, coinciding with the Rhizophoreae ( Bruguiera, Ceriops, Kandelia, and Rhizophora), the Anisophylleae ( Anisophyllea, Combretocarpus, Poga, and Polygonathus), and the Macarisieae ( Anopyxis, Blepharistemma, Cassipourea, Comiphyton, Macarisia, and Sterigmapetalum), as recognized by several taxonomists. One group, the Gynotrocheae (Carallia, Crossostylis, Gynotroches, and Pellacalyx), is rather heterogeneous. The family as a whole is wood anatomically very heterogeneous, but this diversity...

Wood production and structure in relation to bud activity in some softwood and hardwood species Naturalis
Denne, M.P..
The duration of cambial activity, and change in wood structure from early to latewood, are considered in relation to the initiation of scale and foliage leaves, and shoot extension, in Picea abies, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus robur, Fraxinus excelsior, and Fagus sylvatica. The initiation of cambial activity appears to be associated with the production of the first scales at the shoot apex, but the cessation of cambial activity does not appear to coincide with the end of primordial initiation at the apex. In P. abies and P. menziesii leaf initiation continues at a rapid rate for several weeks after cambial activity has ceased. In Q. robur, F. excelsior, and F. sylvatica cambial activity continues longer than leaf initiation. The decline in vessel or...

Zoogeographic patterns in chaetognaths and some other planktonic organisms Naturalis
Pierrot-Bults, A.C..
In this paper an attempt is made to give a general survey of our present knowledge about the relations between distribution patterns and diversity chiefly based on chaetognaths. Six main Zoogeographic patterns are distinguished, viz. cosmopolitan, 40° N to 40° S circumglobal, 30° N to 30° S, biantitropical, circumpolar, and neritic; their relation with holoplankton diversity is discussed. Generally the more limited the distribution of a holoplanktonic species, the less infraspecific variation is observed. The most common pattern is the circumglobal from 40° N to 40° S. No obvious relations between distribution patterns and taxonomic categories could be traced.

Zur Morphologie von Saccoblastia pinicola und S. sebacea Naturalis
Jülich, Ute.
The genus Saccoblastia is here accepted in the sense of Donk (1966). The only European species, S. farinacea (= S. pinicola.) differs from Heticogloea lagerheimii (= S. sebacea) in its corticioid, non-waxy basidiocarps and the subapical origin of the epibasidia from the primordial hyphae.
