| A história da citricultura brasileira relaciona-se à própria história do País. Poucos anos depois do descobrimento, entre 1530 e 1540, os portugueses introduziram as primeiras sementes de laranja doce (Citrus sinensis) no Estado da Bahia. Fatos auspiciosos ocorreram no século XIX relacionados aos citros na região: o surgimento da laranja 'Bahia' (C. sinensis) no bairro do Cabula, em Salvador, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento da citricultura nos cinco continentes após sua introdução na Califórnia (EUA) e a exportação de laranjas doces do Ceará para Londres. |

| The objective of this study was to determine PROP (6-n-propyltiouracil) taster status in adults and its relationship with anthropometric variables and pleasantness of sugar, salt, and fat. A total of 123 subjects rated the intensity of PROP and sodium cloride (NaCl) solutions using the labeled magnitude scale. For pleasantness evaluation, it was used concentrated orange juice (sugar) and mashed potato (salt and fat). The subjects were classified as non-tasters (n = 35), medium-tasters (n = 33) and super-tasters (n = 55). In this study, no relationship was found between PROP taster status and age, sex, weight, body mass index, and pleasantness. | Sortable silt particle-size data and stable isotope analyses from the Corsica Trough, western Mediterranean Sea, provide a continuous palaeoceanographic record of the inflow, ventilation and vertical fluctuations of the Levantine Intermediate Water (LIW) in the northern Tyrrhenian Sea for the last 130,000 years. The results presented herein reveal that climate changes drive the Mediterranean intermediate circulation on Milankovitch to millennial time-scales. | Borehole PRGL1-4 drilled in the upper slope of the Gulf of Lion provides an exceptional record to investigate the impact of late Pleistocene orbitally-driven glacio-eustatic sea-level oscillations on the sedimentary outbuilding of a river fed continental margin. High-resolution grain-size and geochemical records supported by oxygen isotope chronostratigraphy allow reinterpreting the last 500 ka upper slope seismostratigraphy of the Gulf of Lion. | In this paper we study the impact of the international migration of unskilled workers on skill formation and the average skill level in the home country. We analyze what appears to be the least threatening scenario from the point of view of its effect on the supply of skills at home: namely, migration exclusively by unskilled workers. Somewhat surprisingly, we find that even without the departure of skilled workers, the home country suffers reduced aggregate skill formation. | Este trabalho objetiva apresentar a estrutura e a descrição da base de dados do projeto GeoDegrade, com ênfase nos dados com atributos espaciais organizados em um banco de dados gerenciado em um sistema de informações geográficas (SIG) (SILVA et al., 2012). O banco de dados contém dados secundários compilados de diferentes fontes disponíveis e dados primários que serão gerados ao longo do projeto, embasando as análises das pastagens degradadas nos diferentes biomas. |

| In the context of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD), monitoring programs and related indicators have been developed to assess anthropogenic impacts on various components of aquatic ecosystems. While great precautions are usually taken when selecting and calculating relevant core metrics, little attention is generally paid to the generation of the multimetric indicator, i.e. the combination of the different core metrics.
