Competitive Ability of Lettuce with Ryegrass1 Planta Daninha
GALON,L; FORTE,C.T.; GIACOMINI,J.P.; REICHERT Jr,F.W.; SCARIOT,M.A.; DAVID,F.A.; PERIN,G.F..
ABSTRACT The objective of the study was to evaluate the competitive ability of summer crisp and butterhead lettuce types in coexistence with populations of ryegrass. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 2 x 7 scheme, with four replications. On the A factor the lettuce types (summer crisp and butterhead) were allocated and, on B, the densities of ryegrass (0, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 plants per pot). The number of leaves, chlorophyll content, leaf area, green mass and dry mass of the lettuce types and ryegrass were evaluated, and the diameter of the culture stem and the tiller number of the weed were determined. Differences in competitive ability between the lettuce types in competition with ryegrass were found, and butterhead was...

Cultivation Systems, Vegetable Soil Covers and their Influence on the Phytosocyology of Weeds Planta Daninha
FORTE,C.T.; GALON,L.; BEUTLER,A.N.; REICHERT JR.,F.W.; MENEGAT,A.D.; PERIN,G.F.; TIRONI,S.P..
ABSTRACT: Phytosociological studies are groups of methods that aim at the identification, composition and distribution of plant species in a community. The objective of this study was to identify and quantify the main weeds found in beans, maize and soybean cultivated in no-tillage and conventional systems. The experimental design was a randomized block one, with four replications. Experiments were conducted during three consecutive years, with summer crop (bean, maize and soybean) treatments, no-tillage system (NTS) composed by the covers, black oat, vetch and forage radish, in addition to their intercrop. In the conventional planting system (CTS), the area was left fallow in the off-season. The shoot dry matter of the covers was evaluated in each crop....

INTERFERENCE AND ECONOMIC THRESHOLD LEVEL FOR CONTROL OF BEGGARTICK ON BEAN CULTIVARS Planta Daninha
GALON,L.; FORTE,C.T.; GABIATTI,R.L.; RADUNZ,L.L.; ASPIAZÚ,I.; KUJAWINSKI,R.; DAVID,F.A.; CASTOLDI,C.T.; PERIN,G.F.; RADUNZ,A.L.; ROSSETTI,J..
ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to assess the interference and determine the economic threshold level of beggartick damage on bean crops. Treatments consisted of bean cultivars (IPR Uirapuru, BRS Supremo, BRS Campeiro, Fepagro 26, BRS Esplendor and IPR Tuiuiú) submitted to competition with ten beggartick populations. We evaluated plant population, leaf area, ground cover and shoot dry mass of beggartick. Dry mass of shoots of beggartick fitted better to the hyperbolic model, and grain yield losses due to beggartick interference were estimated satisfactorily by this model. BRS Esplendor and IPR Tuiuiú were more competitive than the others in the presence of beggartick. Sowing of BRS Esplendor, IPR Tuiuiú and Fepagro 26 increases the level of economic...

Interference and Level of Economic Damage of Alexandergrass on Corn Planta Daninha
FRANDOLOSO,F.S.; GALON,L.; CONCENÇO,G.; ROSSETTO,E.R.O.; BIANCHESSI,F.; SANTIN,C.O.; FORTE,C.T..
ABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to evaluate the interference and to determine the level of economic damage (NDE) of the weed when infesting the corn crop. Treatments were composed by corn densities (2.60, 3.10, 3.65, 4.00 and 4.80 plants m-1) and 10 Alexandergrass populations for each crop seeding density. The population of plants, leaf area, soil cover and shoot dry mass of Alexandergrass were evaluated as indicator of infestation. Shoot dry mass of Alexandergrass presents better adjustment to the model of rectangular hyperbole, and losses of grain yield due to interference of the weed were satisfactorily estimated by this model. Corn sowing densities of 2.60; 3.10 and 3.65 plants m-1 in average, were more competitive of all evaluated variables...

Physiological Quality of Carioca Bean Seeds Submitted to the Application of Desiccant Herbicides in Two Periods Planta Daninha
CASTOLDI,C.T.; RADUNZ,L.L.; GALON,L.; ASPIAZÚ,I.; FORTE,C.T.; SCARIOT,M.A.; SOUZA,D.O..
ABSTRACT: The use of herbicides for bean crop desiccation aiming seed production, is an alternative management because it allows harvesting when the seeds present high vigor, germination and dry mass, however this technique can cause damages to the seeds. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological quality of bean seeds, of the Carioca type, with the application of desiccant herbicides doses at different periods, aiming at the anticipation of the harvest. The bean plants, Pérola cultivar, were desiccated when the seeds had 42 and 30% water content, with ammonium glufosinate, saflufenacil and diquat at doses of 0, 50, 75 and 100% in relation to the recommended average dose for desiccation, respectively for each of the herbicides. The...

Selection of Species with Soil Phytoremediation Potential After the Application of Protox-Inhibiting Herbicides Planta Daninha
ALVES,C.; GALON,L.; KAIZER,R.R.; HOLZ,C.M.; WINTER,F.L.; BASSO,F.J.M.; PERIN,G.F.; FORTE,C.T..
ABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to evaluate the phytoremediation potential of summer-grown species planted in soils contaminated with the herbicides fomesafen or sulfentrazone. In a greenhouse, doses of fomesafen (0.0, 0.125, 0.25 and 0.5 kg ha-1) and or sulfentrazone (0.0, 0.3, 0.6 and 1.2 kg ha-1), were applied in the pre-emergence of brown hemp, millet, velvet bean and sorghum. On the field, the recommended doses of fomesafen (0.250 kg ha-1) and sulfentrazone (0.600 kg ha-1) were used in the pre-emergence of brown hemp, velvet bean and sorghum, plus a treatment without cultivation. These species, before planting canola (bioindicator species), were submitted to mowing and burndown. In greenhouse trials, velvet bean, millet and sorghum tolerated...

Weed Management in Beans Using Subdoses of Fluazifop-P-Butyl + Fomesafen Planta Daninha
GALON,L.; CASTOLDI,C.T.; FORTE,C.T.; DE DAVID,F.A.; PERIN,G.F.; RADUNZ,A.L..
ABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of reduced doses of the commercial mixture composed of fluazifop-p-butil + fomesafen, applied for the management of common weeds in beans. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized block design, with a 5x2+1 factorial arrangement and with four replications. In factor A, there were five percentual doses (100, 87.5, 75.0, 62.5 and 0.0%), in relation to the recommended commercial dose (2 L ha-1) of fluazifop-p-butil + fomesafen, which corresponded to 2.00; 1.75; 1.50; 1.25 and 0.00 L ha-1. Factor B was composed by two development stages of black beans (three and eight trefoils) and weeds: black-jack (two to four and four to eight leaves) and southern crabgrass (two leaves to one...
