Contribution a l'étude du lieu jaune (Gadus Pollachius L.) ArchiMer
Moreau, Jean.
Gadus pollachius Linnaeus (Fig. 1) is generally known under the name of "lieu jaune" in France, but according to the region or its size, it can have other names: At Boulogne-sur-Mer, it is known as white "merluche" or "colin" and in Brittany, as "malouan" or "loeneck" according to whether it is a juvenile or an adult specimen. In England, it is called pollack or whiting pollack and in Scotland, "laits" or "lythe". In Spain, juveniles are called "corobelo" and adults "abadejo".While the development of eggs and larvae of whiting is well described, its biometry and its growth are less well known. The present study aims to contribute some data on this subject and to determine whether the whiting fished in the southern portion of their habitat, from Portugal to...

Moreau, Jean.
In an initial study, Moreau (1967) studied the role of the Navicula ostrearia B. pigment complex in the green colouration of oysters in finishing ponds. Subsequent studies explored the influence of various environmental factors on this mechanism of colouration. The greening process is not well understood and we wished to test the hypothesis by which N. ostrearia pigmentation is closely linked to the presence of oysters (Ranson, 1927). For Ranson, "oyster mucus is made up of mucin that undergoes bacterial-type acid hydrolysis resulting in reducing sugars". These sugars were thought to be the causal agent of N. ostrearia pigmentation. This point of view was greatly debated by Bachrach (1935) and Ranson himself cited several authors (Miquel, 1892; Chodat,...

Moreau, Jean.
In a preliminary work (MOREAU, 1967), the importance of the role of pigments in fattening ponds and the part they played in the process of Navicula ostrearia B.'s pigmentation had been studied in fattening ponds situated at two different points of the Marennes-Oléron basin. The first of these fattening ponds were located in the Seudre Valley, at La Tremblade and at Eguillate, the second ones in the Daire area more widely fed by coastal waters and where the greening conditions of the fattening ponds are different from those observed in Seudre (figure 1 and table 1). 370 Dosing the potency of various chlorophylls had highlighted a noticeable constancy of chlorophyll B and, a variance for those of type A and C (table 2) which had made it possible to conclude...

Moreau, Jean.
The greening of oysters in fattening ponds, known of since SPRAT (1669), was made clear by GAILLON (1820) who described "the green coloration that oysters placed in basins acquired" and observed that this coloration was localised particularly in the gills. He specified the agent of this phenomenon, which he call Vibrio ostrearia, a spindle-shaped organism, about 100µ long, placed since then in the genus Navicula by BORV DE SAINT-VINCENT (1823). The pigment emitted by this navicular, classified today as one of the Pennales, was called "Marennine" in 1886 by RAY-LANCASTER.

Moreau, Jean.
Greening of oysters in fattening ponds, known since SPRAT (1669) was specified by GAILLON (1820) who described "the green coloration of oysters placed in basins" and observed that it localises in gills. He determined the agent of this phenomenon and named it Vibrio ostrearia, fusiforme organism, of about 100~l in length, placed since then in Navicula by BORY DE SAINT-VINCENT (1823). The pigment produced by this navicula, classified among pennales, was named "marennine" in 1886 by RAY-LANCASTER....Since then, no research can be found on this topic. This is the reason why this work was carried out in 1965. It was conducted in the fattening ponds of the oyster culture basin of Marennes-Oléron, well described by CHAUX-THÉVENIN in 1939. They are shallow basins,...

ArchiMer
Coeurdacier, J.-m.; Heral, Maurice; Liange, M.; Moreau, Jean; Prou, Jean; Razet, Daniel; Williot, P..
Reject waters from sea fish-ponds of rearing trout and turbot show increased ammonia and phosphate values. Protid, lipid and glucid contents of the waters remain low, with total values which do not overpass 1.7 mg.l super(1). After showing that the oysters were likely to absorb sewage from fish farming ponds, the authors examine whether, for epidemiologic and rearing methods reason, it is possible for both types of farming to cohabit as for as zoopathology is concerned. The possible accumulation of antibiotic in mollusks and antibioresistance transfer to germs may be pathogenic for man, are also discussed.

Marteil, Louis; Trochon, Pierre; Le Dantec, Jean; Moreau, Jean.
