tThe regular water supply during life cycle is essential to determine the yield in the legumes. In semiaridenvironments, the irregular rainfall and high temperature influence the phenology of crops impairing theyield. Peanut is an oleaginous crop with broad adaptation to tropical and semiarid climates, but yield isoften harmed when plants face water irregularities during reproductive phase. The recommendation ofcultivars tolerant to environments with water?limitation is indispensable to farmers in order to ensurereasonable production when drought settles down. Here, we evaluating peanut bred lines in order toassess drought tolerance based on physiological and yield traits, in greenhouse and field assays. In green-house experiment, 2 genotypes (BR 1,... |

The breeding programs focused on semiarid environments significantly invest on selection of early-mature genotypes with the ability to maintain yield at reasonable levels, when drought sets in. The fastigiata peanut genotypes have broad physiological adaptation to environments prone to drought, while subsp. hypogaea are less tolerant, but are excellent to pod yield. The combination of these intraspecific materials via hybridization often provides robust descendants to breeding works focusing on yield and drought tolerance. In this work we adopted a clustering method to assist in the selection procedures of intraspecific peanut elite lines, based on molecular tools and physiological, biochemical and agronomic traits. Initially, fourteen intraspecific top... |

Transpiration (E), diffusive resistance (rs) and anatomical parameters were measured in plants of four grafted umbu tree genotypes (GBUs 44, 48, 50 and 68) in order to evaluate alterations induced by intermittent drought and possible genotypic variations. Transpiration measurements were taken daily until stomatal closure by withholding water. Measurements were also taken, when the plants were re-watered and the watering was interrupted again. This cycle was repeated for a period of 31 days (stress period). The control plants were also irrigated daily. A regular pattern in the stomatal opening/closing mechanism was observed throughout the watering period, exhibiting intra-specific differences. Stomatal behavior of GBU 44 and GBU 68 were influenced by air... |
