ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of weeds in flooded rice areas, as a function of planting system and herbicide programmes in the previous cropping year. The experiment was installed in field conditions, in randomized complete blocks design, arranged in factorial scheme 3 x 2, with eight replications. In factor A, treatments consisted on conventional tillage, minimum tillage and no till cropping systems, coupled to the application (traditional control) or not (semi-ecological system) of herbicides (Factor B). One year after rice cultivation, preceding the planting of the next cropping season, phytosociological evaluations of the weed communities present in the treatments were carried out. We assessed the overall infestation... |

ABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to determine the competitive interaction of sweet sorghum cultivars BRS 506, BRS509, and BRS 511 with biotypes of Alexandergrass and wild poinsettia. The adopted experimental design was the randomized block one, with four replications. Treatments were arranged in a substitution series by proportions of 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 0:100%, corresponding to 20:0, 15:5, 10:10, 5:15 and 0:20 plant per pot of sweet sorghum (cultivars BRS 506, BRS 509 and BRS 511) withweeds (Alexander grass/wild poinsettia). The leaf area (LA) and dry matter (DM) of sweet sorghum, Alexandergrass and wild poinsettia plants were determined 50 days after emergence. Data about competitive abilities were analysed through the graphical... |

ABSTRACT Weed management in sugarcane fields must be performed rationally, taking into consideration the competitive ability of cultivars and weeds, to allow for reductions in control costs and herbicide use. In this study, an evaluation was made of the interference of populations of Brachiaria brizantha in sugarcane cultivars, with the objective of estimating the economic threshold level of B. brizantha in competition with the cultivars RB72454, RB867515 and SP801816. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted under field conditions, where the cultivars coexisted with different weed densities. Considering the average values of the variables used for calculations, an economic threshold level was achieved with a population of 0.33, 0.46 and 0.66 plants... |

The aims of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness of diquat, copper hydroxide, copper oxychloride and their associations diquat + 0.1% copper oxychloride and diquat + 0.1% copper hydroxide to control Cerathophyllum demersum. Therefore, the concentrations used were 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0 and 1.5 mg L-1 oxychloride and copper hydroxide and 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 and 1.2 mg L-1 diquat and their associations with 0.1% copper oxychloride and 0.1% copper and a control hydroxide. The experimental design was completely randomized with ten replications for 45 days. For evaluation we used a scale of 0-100% control of notes and rated the weight (g) and length (cm) of pointers at the end of the trial period. Diquat showed 100% efficacy at 30 DAA, associations in 21... |

ABSTRACT: Efficient management of sourgrass is one of the main challenges faced by Brazilian soybean farmers. Biological and ecological characteristics of this weed, as well as wide distribution of glyphosate-resistant biotypes, make it difficult to control this species. The objective of this work was to estimate interference of sourgrass in soybean yield. Seven experiments were conducted during three consecutive years (2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 cropping seasons); six of them were on-farm trials where sourgrass infestation was mainly originated from clump regrowth, while infestation originated from seeds in one trial. Data from all sites and experiments were submitted to a combined analysis, according to the study factors and variables, to... |

ABSTRACT: The goals of this study were to evaluate the application of glyphosate plus three adjuvants and three spray nozzles in controlling the macrophyte Pistia stratiotes. For this purpose, after an 80 to 90% colonization, the application of 1.5, 3.5 and 7.0 L h-1 of isolated glyphosate and with the adjuvants Aterbane® BR, Veget’oil® and Dash® HC (0.5% vv-1) and the spray nozzles (AI 110.02, TTI 110.015 and TT 110.015) was performed, plus a control sample (water). Applications were performed with a pressurized backpack precision sprayer, at the constant pressure of 50 p.s.i. and with mixture consumption of 200 L ha-1. At the dose of 1.5 L ha-1, there was 100% control for the combination glyphosate + Veget’oil + tip AI 110.02 (Gly+V.oil+AI,... |

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of glyphosate, 2,4-D, and diquat to control the aquatic macrophytes Brachiaria subquadripara, Hedychium coronarium, and Myriophyllum aquaticum under greenhouse conditions. The following herbicides and doses were used: glyphosate at 240, 720, 1,680, 2,640, 3,600, and 4,320 g a.e. ha-1, 2,4-D at 335, 1,005, 1,675, 2,345, and 3,015 g a.e. ha-1, diquat at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 g a.i. ha-1, and a control with 10 replications. Sprayings were applied with a CO2-pressurized backpack sprayer at a constant pressure of 172.36 KPa, tips DG 11002, and spray solution consumption of 200 L ha-1. The effectiveness of control was evaluated visually at 3, 7, 15, 21, 30, 45, and 60 days after... |

the aims of this study were to determine imazapyr efficacy for floating macrophyte control and ecotoxicology for non-target organisms. For the floating macrophyte control efficacy tests were used the doses of 0,5; 1,0; 2,0; 2,5; 3,0; 3,5 and 4,0 L ha-1 and a control with 10 replicates. The acute toxicology for non-target organisms was estimated by lethal concentration 50% (LC50 and EC50). The floating macrophyte control efficacy was over 90%. Imazapyr was classified as moderately toxic for the following biomarkers: L. minor, H. eques, B. rerio, P. caudimaculatus, P. canaliculata, and P. mesopotamicus and lightly toxic for A. caroliniana. Thus, imazapyr herbicide is a tool with great potential to be used on floating macrophyte control (E. crassipes, P.... |

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of the use of macrophytes Lemna minor and Azolla caroliniana as biomarkers of exposure (acute toxicity) for atrazine, bentazon + imazamox and clomazone, insecticide alpha cypermethrin + teflubenzuron and fungicides pyraclostrobin and mixture pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole, as well as the risk for environmental intoxication. For this purpose, four plants of L. minor and five of A. caroliniana were selected in a 50 mL Hoagland medium. For both plants, the following concentrations were used: 0.10; 1.07; 3.44; 11.16; 36.40 and 118.0 mg L-1 of each test product and a control with three replicates. The results of this study demonstrated higher sensitivity of L. minor to the tested pesticides,... |

The present study evaluated the effects of cover crops (Pennisetum glaucum, Crotalaria spectabilis and Urochloa ruziziensis) associated with the application of herbicides {glyphosate; (glyphosate + haloxyfop-R); (glyphosate + fluazifop-p-butyl); (glyphosate + imazethapyr) and (glyphosate + imazaquin)} in soybean desiccation management for volunteer RR® corn control. The experiment was conducted under field conditions at Sinop-MT, during the 2013/2014 crop season, in a randomized complete blocks design with factorial scheme and four replications. The following parameter were evaluated: dry matter of cover crops and ground coverage rate, control of volunteer RR® corn present at the time of desiccation, dry matter, height and intoxication level on soybean... |
