Bilans de santé des organismes et des écosystèmes marins. Quels signaux biologiques mesurer ? ArchiMer
Devauchelle, Nicole.
Organisms living in marine waters are numerous and varied. Examiningtheir biological signaIs could he/p to evaluate and protect their health and that of their environment. This publication focuses on this topic, answering the fo/lowing questions: What are the measurable biological signaIs in marine organisms? Do they reflect the state of health of individuals, populations or ecosystems? Can they provide information about the specificity and level of chemical pollution? Are measurement results From bioassays useful in predicting and limiting ecological dysfunctions? ln conclusion, an integrated, operational approach is proposed to carry out environmental assessments which take biological and spatiotemporal diversity in marine waters into account. Cytotoxic and Genotoxic Effects of Macroptilium lathyroides Planta Daninha
SILVA,M.S.A.; YAMASHITA,O.M.; ROSSI,A.A.B.; CONCENÇO,G.; CARVALHO,M.A.C.; FELITO,R.A..
ABSTRACT: The monitoring of phytochemicals with potentially toxic properties can be assessed by observing the physiological and cellular alterations of the test organism exposed. This present study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of aqueous extracts of leaves and roots of Macroptilium lathyroides weed on the cell cycle of lettuce. Bioassays were conducted in a germinator (25 oC) with aqueous extract at concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 20 and 40% p v-1, obtained from fresh leaves and roots. For biological, lettuce root meristems were used for the preparation of slides using the technique of squashing. All blades were observed with an optical microscope at a magnitude of 400x. A total of 5,000 cells were analyzed for each treatment, and...

Evaluation de l'effet de l'environnement et de l'alimentation sur l'apparition d'anomalies de développement chez l'alevin de bar (Dicentrarchus labrax) ArchiMer

Larvae from a natural spawn of sea bass were distributed into 3 larval rearing lines in 2 distant sites, after simulated or true transportation. The specific rearing methods in the specific rearing environment of each laboratory were used :starvation under darkness for 160 degrees days and first feeding on Artemia (PP) in the Mediterranean laboratory of Palavas;first feeding on rotifers at 75 degrees days in the laboratory of Brest (Brittany) in 250 liters (BB) tanks or 35 liters tanks (Bb) of a separate rearing line. In the 250 liters tanks in Brest, 2 additional treatments before first feeding on Artemia were tested :starvation up to 160 degrees days under darkness with no bubbling (BP);starvation up to 160 degrees days under continuous illumination with...

The boats cruising in the oyster growing areas are protected against biofouling by paints which release toxic compounds such as copper oxide and organotins into the water. After an estimation of the inputs of copper and organotins in the "Marennes-Oleron", Arcachon (Atlantic) and Thau (Mediterranean Sea) areas, their influence on larval fixation is discussed, taking into account the tributyltin toxicity against D larvae of Crassostrea gigas. Laboratory experiments have demonstrated that tributyltin produces morphological abnormalities of the shell and increases tin levels in tissues, interfering with copper and zinc metabolism. The influence of yacht ports on oyster growth and shell morphology, has been demonstrated in the field. The use of...

Larval rearing and weaning of seabass, Lates calcarifer (Block), on experimental compounded diets ArchiMer
Fuchs, Jacques; Nedelec, Georges.
Larval rearing trials of seabass larvae, either imported from Singapore or obtained from the captive broodstock of IFREMER/C.O.P. at Tahiti, were carried out since 1987, by testing different technologies originally used in South East Asia (green-water culture, sequential water changes) or developed by IFREMER for other species (clear water system, preys enrichment, continuous water renewal).

Perturbations observées chez la palourde "Ruditapes decussatus" et la datte de mer "Lithophaga lithophaga" collect"es au nord de la Tunisie OceanDocs
Jaafar Kefi, F.; Trigui El Menif, N.; Le Pennec, M..
