Evaluation of Dietary Supplement Intake (Yeast Tablets) on Pregnant Albino Rats and Their Fetuses (Implications of Yeast Tablets on Rats & Fetuses) BABT

ABSTRACT Histopathological studies in placenta, liver, kidney, apoptotic DNA damage and p53 mutation estimation of pregnant rats and their offspring exposed to dietary supplement yeast tablets, were carried out. Pregnant female albino rats were orally administrated yeast tablets at concentration 41.1 mg/kg during gestation period. Hematoxylin and eosin stained sections were used for examination. Neutral comet assay was performed to assess the apoptotic DNA damage and single strand conformational analysis was performed to screen the mutations inductions in p53 exons 7 and 8. Geochemical fluxes related to alteration of a subaerially exposed seamount: Nintoku seamount, ODP Leg 197, Site 1205 - art. no. Q02014 ArchiMer

Hole 1205A was drilled on Nintoku Seamount, which lies in the midportion of the Emperor Seamount Chain. This seamount was emergent similar to 56 Myr ago but was submerged by 54 Ma, so the lavas have endured weathering in both subaerial and submarine environments. We have studied the petrology, mineralogy, and geochemistry of intercalated altered basalts, breccias, and soil samples recovered at Hole 1205A to quantify the chemical exchanges between the seamount and seawater and/ or meteoric fluids. The secondary mineralogy is relatively uniform throughout the section and comprises smectite, Feoxyhydroxides, iddingsite, and Ca-carbonates. Resumo: Em 217 sistemas genitais de cabras adultas abatidas foram encontrados 21 (9,67%) casos de hidrometria. As femeas eram da raca Morota, Moxoto e do tipo Sem raca Definida (SRD), mantidas em regime de confinamento (grupo A) e em pastagem nativa (grupo B). Tdos os casos caracterizavam-se macroscopicamente pelo aumento de volume e distensao das paredes do utero, devido ao acumulo de um liquido de aspecto aquoso, pH acido, cujo volume variava de 80 a 1600 ml. Microscopicamente as alteracoes encontradas nos uteros eram caracterizadas pelo acentuado grau de atrofia do endometrio. A mucosa e a submmucosa estavam reduzidas e com pouco tecido conjuntivo havendo desaparecimento das pregas da mucosa, cujas celulas epiteliais eram simples e cuboidais. A regiao...

What causes low magnetization at basalt-hosted hydrothermal sites? Insights from inactive site Krasnov (MAR 16°38′N) ArchiMer

High-resolution magnetic surveys acquired near the seafloor show that active basalt-hosted hydrothermal sites are associated with zones of lower magnetization. This observation may reflect the thermal demagnetization of a hot hydrothermal zone, the alteration of basalt affected by hydrothermal circulation, and/or the presence of thick, nonmagnetic hydrothermal deposits. In order to discriminate among these inferences, we acquired vector magnetic data 50 m above inactive hydrothermal site Krasnov using the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Victor.
