Resumo: Neste artigo apresenta-se a construção de um modelo ecofisiológico-matemático (BrCane) para predizer a produtividade potencial - sem restrições nutricionais ou de água, a fim de analisar a sustentabilidade da expansão do cultivo de cana-de-açúcar em novas áreas para produção de etanol. A arquitetura do modelo BRCANE foi concebida para uma planta tipo C4, onde a evolução mensal da biomassa foi estimada em função da temperatura do ar e da radiação incidente. Nas simulações apresentadas a produção de biomassa levou em conta a taxa bruta de fotossíntese subtraída às perdas para respiração de manutenção, senescência de folhas e morte de perfilhos durante o ciclo da cultura. Growth dynamics of young trees of Araucaria angustifolia and Pinus taeda PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira

The objective of this research was to investigate the monthly growth rhythm of young trees of Araucaria angustifolia and Pinus taeda throughout the vegetative year and to establish its correlation with climatic variables. Monthly measurements of diameter and total height were carried out in one stand of A. angustifolia and two of Pinus taeda. Correlation matrices among the current monthly increments and the climatic variables indicated that the development of Pinus taeda is mostly affected by photoperiod and by minimum, average, and maximum temperatures, while A. angustifolia growth is affected mostly by minimum and average temperatures. doi: 10.4336/2010.pfb.30.62.165

Phenology, caudex growth and age estimation of Cyathea corcovadensis (Raddi) Domin (Cyatheaceae) in a subtropical forest in southern Brazil Acta Botanica

Cyathea corcovadensis (Raddi) Domin occurs in northeastern, southeastern and southern Brazil, being widely distributed in the last. This was a three-year study, conducted from August 2008 to July 2011, in which we evaluated C. corcovadensis in a subtropical forest in southern Brazil. For the first year (August 2008 to July 2009), we monitored 30 plants on a monthly basis in order to analyze phenological events (vegetative and reproductive) and caudex growth. We also estimated the ages of the plants. The spiny rats of the genus Trinomys Thomas, 1921 have a broad distribution in the Atlantic Forests of southeastern Brazil. However, some species are known only from their type locality and adjacent areas. In our study, nine areas in the state of Rio de Janeiro were surveyed and three species of the genus were captured - Trinomys dimidiatus (Günther, 1877), T. setosus (Desmarest, 1817) and T. gratiosus bonafidei (MOOJEN, 1948). Predicting geographic distributions of Phacellodomus species (Aves: Furnariidae) in South America based on ecological niche modeling Biological Sciences

Phacellodomus Reichenbach, 1853, comprises nine species of Furnariids that occur in South America in open and generally dry areas. This study estimated the geographic distributions of Phacellodomus species in South America by ecological niche modeling. Applying maximum entropy method, models were produced for eight species based on six climatic variables and 949 occurrence records. Since highest climatic suitability for Phacellodomus species has been estimated in open and dry areas, the Amazon rainforest areas are not very suitable for these species. Phenological studies assist in forest ecosystems comprehension and evaluation of resource availability for wildlife, as well as in improving the understanding of relationships between plants and their pollinators and dispersers. This study aims to describe the reproductive phenophases of riparian plant species and correlate them with climatic variables. Seasonality of insects in the semi-arid Caatinga of northeastern Brazil Rev. Bras. entomol.

Insects are essential to tropical ecosystems functioning. In semi-arid regions, the increase in abundance and/or activity (e.g. reproduction and foraging behavior) of insects is usually associated with climatic variables. The present study investigates which climatic variables are best predictors of insect abundance in an area of Caatinga in northeastern Brazil. Individuals were sampled for 24 months using Malaise and pitfall traps, and beating trays. A total of 58925 individuals belonging to 20 insect orders were collected. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar três métodos para simulação de dados de radiação fotossinteticamente ativa e temperatura do ar, com o uso de parâmetros diários de 17 estações do Estado de São Paulo. A simulação foi realizada para o primeiro e o 16o dia de cada mês, conforme: a distribuição normal truncada a mais ou menos 1,96 de desvio-padrão; distribuição triangular assimétrica; e distribuição normal bivariada. The richness and abundance of Collembola species can be influenced by many biotic and abiotic factors, mainly humidity. The semiarid region of Brazil is dominated by Caatinga dryland vegetation which experiences distinct seasonal alterations of its physiognomy linked to regional rainfall regimes. The present study evaluated the environmental factors affecting populations of Collembola in an area of Caatinga vegetation in Northeastern Brazil during a 12-months period. 栽培季節氣象環境對水稻台農71號生產之影響 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本文研究以水稻 (Oryza sativa L.) 台農71 號品種為試驗材料,在本所利用按月在田間 栽植1 次之週年栽培方式,探討栽培季節氣象環境對其生產之影響,並以建立氣象變因估 測產量之關係模式。本文包括95 年12 月至96 年11 月等12 個月份栽培季節之試驗資料, 惟其中96 年9 月及10 月栽培季節因生殖生長期長期低溫而無產量收穫,因此僅10 個季節 資料進行分析。氣象環境變因則篩檢栽培季節計算之全生育期累積日平均氣溫 (ADMAT)、日 射量 (AIR)、日照時數 (ADSH)、日降水 (雨) 量 (ADP) 及日蒸發量 (ADE) 等5 項。經由氣象 變因之間的相關矩陣分析,發現霧峰地區之ADMAT 與AIR (r = 0.976***)、ADSH (r = 0.764**) 之 間均呈極顯著正相關,ADSH 與AIR (r = 0.785**) 亦呈極顯著正相關,而ADP 與ADSH (r = -0.691*) 則呈顯著負相關。另鮮穀粒產量 (fresh grain yield, FGY)、乾穀粒產量 (dry grain yield, DGY) 與氣象環境變因之相關分析結果,因包含適栽與非適栽季節,FGY 和AIR、 ADMAT、ADSH 等兩兩之間皆為顯性負相關 (r 值分別為-0.801**、-0.700*、-0.716*),而DGY 之結果亦同 (r 值分別為-0.813**、-0.724*、-0.758*)。將氣象變因與生產有關之參數進行多 變數迴歸分析 (multivariate regression analysis),包括生產指數 (production index, PI)、收穫 指數 (harvest index, HI)、FGY、DGY...
