Aspects technologie pêche de la campagne JUVESU 99 ArchiMer

IFREMER's "Fishing Technology" team participated in the JUVESU99 campaign from 1 to 13 September. The equipment tested was the same as that from the SURFET99 campaign, a pelagic trawl with a surface area of 47.75 x 43.75 with netting of 500 metres of cables, 120-metre arms of equal length above and below, and a ballast of 40 kg to each wing tip The pelagic panels used were panels from the company TYBORON of "type 8" lent through the intermediary of the Kéroman company, Dock et Entrepôts Maritimes. The trawl's collection of balls consisted of a cluster of ten 11-litre balls on each upper wing tip, and a cluster of five 11-litre balls on each side of the square. La pêche au vivaneau en Guyane française ArchiMer

Traditionally fished by line and conical fishing basket by Venezuelan ships, the red snapper resource off the coast of French Guyana (fish belonging to the Lutjanidae family) has been experiencing intensive fishing since 1984-85 due to the boom in classic fishing techniques and the development of trawl fishing. The study evaluates the situation of this resource's potential: biology, sampling data, bio-statistics (size and sex), size-weight relationship of the three species, specific composition of the catches, describes fishing devices and prospecting, pinpoints fishing spots, gives a distribution of the Venezuelan and Martinique fishing effort.

Study of the manoeuvrability and security of a trawl gear ArchiMer

A complete method is presented for determining the static and dynamic behaviour of a fishing gear. The net, which is very flexible, is modelised by a set of rigid bars. The hydrodynamic forces, applied to each bar, are determined by combining and generalizing the Landweber and Morison hypothesis. A CFD method is used to calculate the forces on trawl doors. The fundamental principle of dynamics is completed with length equations expressing the elasticity of the bars. It leads to a set of second order non-linear differential equations, which is solved using a Runge-Kutta method.
