With a seasonality of forage production there is a decrease in forage production in the dry season. In contrast, production in the rainy season is excessive and the management of the areas should be cautious. In this sense, forage conservation is an essential management practice to guarantee quality food during times of forage shortage, in order to meet the requirements of the animal throughout the year and to increase the efficiency of use not to pass during the period of greatest production. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different additives on the in situ degradability of DM of Urochloa brizantha silage cv. BRS Piatã. The piatã grass, established in the experimental area of Embrapa Agrossilvipastoril in Sinop - Mato Grosso,...

Digestible energy of crude glycerol for pacu and silver catfish Ciência Rural
Balen,Rafael Ernesto; Tetu,Patrick Nereu; Bombardelli,Robie Allan; Pozza,Paulo Cesar; Meurer,Fábio.
The increase in global biodiesel production is originating a glycerol surplus, which has no defined destination. An alternative to overcome this problem is its use as energy source in animal feeding. In Brazil, Pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) is one of the most farmed native fish species, whereas Silver catfish (Rhamdia quelen) is suitable for production in subtropical region. Considering little knowledge about crude glycerol utilization in feeds for Neotropical fish species, it was evaluated the apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) for energy of crude glycerol for P. mesopotamicus and R. quelen. The digestibility and digestible energy content of crude glycerol can be considered excellent even when compared to energy of common ingredients such as...

In situ degradability of the neutral detergent fiber of the silage in Piatã grass (U. brizantha cv. BRS Piatã) with additives. Repositório Alice
SEDANO, A. D. B.; PEREIRA, D. H.; PEDREIRA, B. C. e; PINA, D. S.; XAVIER, I. M.; SOUZA, H. A.; SILVA, H. M.; ASSIS, H. F..
Brazil stands out in the world livestock scenario as a power rating in the production of meat and milk, with solid bases in the exploitation of cattle the grass. Although the use of grazing fodder is a low cost system for feeding the herd, the availability of fodder during the year presents significant unevenness, due to the influence of climatic factors. The use of preserved fodder, mainly in the form of silage, is a viable alternative, so that high quality forage can be guaranteed during the food shortage period. With this work was to evaluate the effect of adding additives on the in situ degradability of silage Urochloa brizantha cv. BRS Piatã. The piatã palisade grass was established in the experimental area of Embrapa Agrossilvipastoril in Sinop -...

Losses in Urochloa brizantha cv. BRS Piatã silage with different additives. Repositório Alice
SEDANO, A. D. B.; PEREIRA, D. H.; PEDREIRA, B. C. e; PINA, D. S.; XAVIER, I. M.; SOUZA, H. A.; ANJOS, E. dos; JOSÉ, R. P. D..
National livestock farming is based on the use of pasture, which represents the most practical and economical form of feeding for ruminants, however seasonality in the supply of food from pasture is one of the most restrictive factors of cattle production in pastures in Brazil. One of the alternatives to solve the problems caused by the irregular production of fodder during the year, would be the rational management of the same, associated to the conservation of the excess fodder, in the form of silage, to be used during the period of scarcity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the dry matter (DM) losses in Piatã palisade grass silage (Urochloa brizantha cv. BRS Piatã) with different additives. The Piatã palisade grass established in the...

The Mutagenic Potential Caused by the Emissions from Combustion of Crude Glycerin and Diesel Fuel BABT
Mazak,Daniel Terruggi; Ávila,Ivonete; Crnkovic,Paula Manoel; Cordoba,Aymer Yeferson Maturana; Pagliuso,Josmar Davilson.
This study evaluated the use of crude glycerin as an alternative of energy generation to replace the traditional fuels. The Tradescantia stamen hair mutation assay (Trad-SH) was applied to study the mutagenic effects caused by the emissions generated in the direct combustion of diesel oil and glycerin in a flame tube furnace. Tradescantia inflorescences were exposed to gaseous emissions from the combustion tests in a fumigation chamber for 30-40 min. The analysis of variance and the Tukey test were applied to compare the differences between six test groups (intoxicated with emissions from glycerin and diesel oil combustion) and a control group. Only one glycerin group showed statistical differences (0.05), possibly due to the complexity of the burning...
