Lipid composition of the Antarctic fish Pleuragramma antarcticum. Influence of age class ArchiMer
Mayzaud, Patrick; Chevallier, J.; Tavernier, E.; Moteki, M.; Koubbi, Philippe.
Larvae and juvenile stages of Pleuragramma antarcticum have been collected in the Dumont D'Urville Sea (East Antarctica) during summer 2008 on board the TRV Umitaka Maru during the CEAMARC survey. Detailed analyses of their lipid class and fatty acid compositions were carried out. P. antarcticum showed a pronounced ontogenic lipid accumulation with increasing size. Larvae displayed a dominance of polar lipids (83% of total lipids) and low percentage of triglycerides (7%). Conversely juveniles showed an increasing accumulation of triglycerides (up to 72.4%). The fatty acid composition of polar lipids remained rather stable between stages with 22:6n-3 and 20:5n-3 as dominant contributors. The relatively minor ontogenic changes, e. g. increase of...

Membrane fluidity and lipid composition of fluconazole resistant and susceptible strains of Candida albicans isolated from diabetic patients BJM
Mishra,Nagendra N.; Prasad,Tulika; Sharma,Neeraj; Gupta,Dwijendra K..
Ten clinical isolates of Candida albicans, five strains belonging to each of fluconazole resistant and susceptible groups isolated from diabetic patients, were studied for the membrane fluidity and lipid composition. Compared to fluconazole susceptible strains, fluconazole resistant ones exhibited enhanced membrane fluidity as measured by fluorescence polarization technique. The increased membrane fluidity was reflected in the decreased p-values exhibited by the resistant strains. On the other hand, susceptible isolates contained higher amount of ergosterol, almost twice as compared to resistant isolates which might have contributed to their lower membrane fluidity. However, no significant alteration was observed in the phospholipid and fatty acid...

Nanoplastics exposure modulate lipid and pigment compositions in diatoms ArchiMer
Gonzalez-fernandez, Carmen; Le Grand, Fabienne; Bideau, Antoine; Huvet, Arnaud; Paul-pont, Ika; Soudant, Philippe.
The impact of nanoplastics (NP) using model polystyrene nanoparticles amine functionalized (PS–NH2) has been investigated on pigment and lipid compositions of the marine diatom Chaetoceros neogracile, at two growth phases using a low (0.05 μg mL−1) and a high (5 μg mL−1) concentrations for 96 h. Results evidenced an impact on pigment composition associated to the light-harvesting function and photoprotection mainly at exponential phase. NP also impacted lipid composition of diatoms with a re-adjustment of lipid classes and fatty acids noteworthy. Main changes upon NP exposure were observed in galactolipids and triacylglycerol's at both growth phases affecting the thylakoids membrane structure and cellular energy reserve of diatoms. Particularly,...

Polimorfismos (g.16024A>G e g.16039T>C) do gene FASN relacionados à composição lipídica da carne em raças bovinas. Repositório Alice
WALKER, C. C.; EGITO, A. A. do; FEIJO, G. L. D.; MORAIS, M. G..
Dentre as raças localmente adaptadas, a Crioula Lageana e a Caracu apresentaram as maiores...

Structural properties of lipid reconstructs and lipid composition of normotensive and hypertensive rat vascular smooth muscle cell membranes BJMBR
Oliveira,T.R.; Lamy,M.T.; De Paula,U.M.; Guimarães,L.L.; Toledo,M.S.; Takahashi,H.K.; Straus,A.H.; Lindsey,C.J.; Paiva,T.B..
Multiple cell membrane alterations have been reported to be the cause of various forms of hypertension. The present study focuses on the lipid portion of the membranes, characterizing the microviscosity of membranes reconstituted with lipids extracted from the aorta and mesenteric arteries of spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive control rat strains (WKY and NWR). Membrane-incorporated phospholipid spin labels were used to monitor the bilayer structure at different depths. The packing of lipids extracted from both aorta and mesenteric arteries of normotensive and hypertensive rats was similar. Lipid extract analysis showed similar phospholipid composition for all membranes. However, cholesterol content was lower in SHR arteries than in...

Tracing carbon assimilation in endosymbiotic deep-sea hydrothermal vent Mytilid fatty acids by C-13-fingerprinting ArchiMer
Riou, V.; Bouillon, S.; Serrao Santos, R.; Dehairs, F.; Colaco, A..
Bathymodiolus azoricus mussels thrive at Mid-Atlantic Ridge hydrothermal vents, where part of their energy requirements are met via an endosymbiotic association with chemolithotrophic and methanotrophic bacteria. In an effort to describe phenotypic characteristics of the two bacterial endosymbionts and to assess their ability to assimilate CO2, CH4 and multi-carbon compounds, we performed experiments in aquaria using C-13-labeled NaHCO3 (in the presence of H2S), CH4 or amino-acids and traced the incorporation of C-13 into total and phospholipid fatty acids (tFA and PLFA, respectively). 14:0; 15:0; 16:0; 16:1(n - 7) c+t; 18:1(n - 13) c+t and (n - 7) c+t; 20:1(n - 7); 20:2(n - 9,15); 18:3(n - 7) and (n - 5,10,13) PLFA were labeled in the presence of...
