Adherence to drug therapy in kidney disease

Non-adherence to drug therapy has not been extensively studied in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The objective of the present study was to identify determinants of non-adherence to drug therapy in patients with CKD, not on dialysis. A prospective cohort study involving 149 patients was conducted over a period of 12 months. Adherence to drug therapy was evaluated by the self-report method at baseline and at 12 months. Patients who knew the type of drug(s) and the respective number of prescribed pills in use at the visit preceding the interview were considered to be adherent. Effects of maternal artificial vocalization on hyperprolific lactating sows and piglets behavior

Abstract The objective of this trial was to evaluate the behavioral patterns and performance of lactating sows and their litters under the effect of artificial vocalization. Twenty-eight sows and their litters were distributed in a completely randomized design in a 2x2 factorial scheme (artificial vocalization x lactation week). The behavior of the animals was monitored during 24 hours on the 7th and 15th days of lactation, analyzing the number, interval, and frequency of nursings. The body condition and performance of the sows were also evaluated. Estrategias de manejo del anestro postparto en ovejas pelibuey.

Se realizaron tres experimentos para determinar el efecto del amamantamiento y su interacción con el efecto macho, el efecto del destete y el efecto del suplemento de aceite de soya durante el periodo postparto (PP) en la eficiencia reproductiva de ovejas Pelibuey. En el experimento 1, a los 7 d postparto, cuatro tratamientos se asignaron al azar a las ovejas con sus crías: amamantamiento continuo (AC), amamantamiento controlado (Ac), amamantamiento continuo con macho (ACCM) y amamantamiento controlado con macho (AcCM).
