ABSTRACT The utilization of organic wastes in agriculture is an alternative that can reduce the amounts of mineral fertilizers applied to the soil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accumulation of macronutrients in sunflower cv. 'Hélio 250' fertilized with cassava wastewater. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design, with six treatments (0; 8.5; 17; 34; 68 and 136 m3 ha-1 of cassava wastewater) and four replications. The accumulation of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and sulfur (S) were evaluated in leaves, stem, capitulum and achenes. The cassava wastewater dose of 136 m3 ha-1 promoted the greatest accumulation of all evaluated nutrients. The pattern of macronutrients accumulation occurred...

Madalão,João Carlos; Souza,Matheus Freitas de; Silva,Alberto Antônio; Silva,Daniel Valadão; Jakelaitis,Adriano; Pereira,Gustavo Antônio Mendes.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis) as a potential remediator of sulfentrazone in the soil. The experiment was conducted under field conditions in a complete randomised block design. The treatments consisted of soils with and without herbicide application as well as the absence and presence of C. ensiformis cultivation associated with incorporation into the soil or the removal of shoots of C. ensiformis. Sorghum was planted as a bioindicator to evaluate the remediation efficiency of jack bean. Sulfentrazone application in areas without C. ensiformis cultivation decreased plants stands, productivity, and height of sorghum compared to treatments where C. ensiformis was cultivated. Sorghum cultivated in succession to C....

Biological activity and persistence of pirimiphos-methyl applied to maize grain at different temperatures AGRIAMBI
Silveira,Rodrigo D.; Faroni,Lêda R. A.; Guedes,Raul N. C.; Queiroz,Maria E. L. R.; Pimentel,Marco A. G..
The expansion of dryeration may impose a further problem for insect control with protectants - the high grain temperatures during insecticide spraying. To assess the impact of this procedure on insecticide activity, maize grains at different temperatures (25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 °C) were sprayed with pirimiphos-methyl. Residue analyses were carried out every 30 days and insecticide biological activity towards Sitophilus zeamais and Tribolium castaneum was assessed every 15 days throughout the experimental period of 90 days. Insect mortality was evaluated after 48 h. Pirimiphos-methyl residue decreased with increased storage time and grain temperature during spraying. Similar trends were also observed for mortality of S. zeamais and T. castaneum, which...

Farias,Fabiane Oliveira; Jasko,Ariana Crasnhak; Colman,Tiago André Denck; Pinheiro,Luís Antônio; Schnitzler,Egon; Barana,Ana Cláudia; Demiate,Ivo Mottin.
The main objective of this study was to characterise the cassava bagasse and to evaluate its addition in composites. Two cassava bagasse samples were characterised using physicochemical, thermal and microscopic techniques, and by obtaining their spectra in the mid-infrared region and analysing them by using x-ray diffraction. Utilising sorption isotherms, it was possible to establish the acceptable conditions of temperature and relative humidity for the storage of the cassava bagasse. The incorporation of cassava bagasse in a low-density polyethylene (LDP) matrix was positive, increasing the elasticity modulus values from 131.90 for LDP to 186.2 for 70% LDP with 30% SP bagasse. These results were encouraging because cassava bagasse could serve as a...
