Corneal epithelial inclusion cyst in a dog Ciência Rural

An unilateral corneal epithelial inclusion cyst in a 7-year-old male Boxer dog is reported. The cyst had been observed for thirty days, was unique, not congenital and only one eye was involved. Seven months prior to the referral the dog had manifested indolent corneal ulcer treated with grade keratotomy and third eyelid flap. The cyst was removed by superficial keratectomy followed by a conjunctival pedicle graft. Recovery was uncomplicated and there wasn’t recurrence seven months after the surgery.

Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (CD26) activity in the hematopoietic system: differences between the membrane-anchored and the released enzyme activity BJMBR

Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV; CD26) (EC 3.4.14.5) is a membrane-anchored ectoenzyme with N-terminal exopeptidase activity that preferentially cleaves X-Pro-dipeptides. It can also be spontaneously released to act in the extracellular environment or associated with the extracellular matrix. Many hematopoietic cytokines and chemokines contain DPP-IV-susceptible N-terminal sequences. We monitored DPP-IV expression and activity in murine bone marrow and liver stroma cells which sustain hematopoiesis, myeloid precursors, skin fibroblasts, and myoblasts. RT-PCR analysis showed that all these cells produced mRNA for DPP-IV. Partially purified protein reacted with a commercial antibody to CD26. The K M values for Gly-Pro-p-nitroanilide ranged from 0.43 to 0.98...

Follicular-Stromal Interaction in Mare Ovary During the Reproductive Cycle International Journal of Morphology

Ovogenesis and foliculogenesis in the mare differ from other farm animals and therefore, gamete manipulation, in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer have been very difficult. The histologic traits of ovaries from 12 mares, in estrus and diestrus were studied. Number and size of follicules and corpora lutea were recorded. The ovarian stroma was evaluated using the pricosirius technique for collagen. A simple morphometric analysis was done using computerized scanner programs. During late estrus, one dominant follicle (46 ± 4mm) is seen. The surrounding stroma contains collagen I and III. The hematopoietic stroma BJMBR

All blood cells are derived from a small common pool of totipotent cells, called hematopoietic stem cells. The process is strictly regulated by the hematopoietic microenvironment, which includes stromal cells, extracellular matrix molecules and soluble regulatory factors. Several experimental in vitro assays have been developed for the study of hematopoietic differentiation, and have provided valuable information on the stroma, which includes, among other cell types, macrophages, fibroblasts, adipocytes, and endothelial cells. The composition, ontogeny, and function in physiological as well as pathological conditions of stroma are discussed.
