Variabilité morphologique, structure de la population et répartition géographique de l'espèce rare #Diaphanosoma celebensis$ Stingelin, 1900 sont étudiées à partir de matériel provenant du sud de l'Inde, de Sri Lanka, de Singapour et de Malaisie. Cette espèce est répandue en Asie tropicale et s'étend jusqu'à la zone subtropicale au nord (Bangladesh); elle se rencontre en eau douce (étangs) aussi bien que dans les eaux de salinité élevée, ce qui était inconnu chez les #Sididae$.
