Resumo:  [[abstract]]應用抗褐飛蝨水稻品種Mudgo和IR9-60與感蟲品種IR-8和臺中在來1號維交後代中所選得之新抗蟲品系35個,民國60年第二期作在本分所王田里水稻試驗田參加初步產量比較試驗。另219個由同一雜交組合所選獲之品系插植於嘉義縣民雄鄉試驗田,在不施用藥劑防治之自然環境下觀察其對褐飛蝨之反應,以供抗蟲育種參考。茲將初步試驗結果摘錄如下: (一) 35個參加初步產量比較試驗之新品系中,大多數品系具有較對照品種臺中在來1號為高之產量。此等品系具有短稈,分蘗力強,粒形細長和米粒半透明等優良農藝性狀。惟大多數品系之抽穗期比臺中在來1號晚約7~10天。 (二) 經室內以槃栽秧苗行人工接種方法檢定選出之219個抗褐飛蝨品系,在田間無藥劑防治自然環境下亦具高度之抵抗性,此顯示水稻對褐飛蝨之反應,秧苗期與成熟期大體一致。當感蟲品種臺中在來1號植株上褐飛蝨棲息密度激增時,抗蟲品系上之蟲口數仍甚低,甚且當臺中在來1號嚴重受害或被害枯萎時,抗蟲品系受害仍極輕微。 Yield performance of 35 newly developed brown planthopper resistant rice strains selected from the crosses between resistant varieties Mudgo and IR9-60 and susceptible varieties IR 8 and Taichung native 1 were evaluated at Wan-tien-1i farm of the Chiayi Agricultural Experiment Station in the second crop of 1971. Field reaction of 219 strains from the same crosses to brown planthopper infestation under uncontrolled natural condition was also observed at Minhsiung rice farm located 15 km north of the Station. Preliminary results obtained from this experiment are briefly summarized as follows: 1. Most of the 35 rice strains tested for their yield performance gave considerably higher yields in comparison with check variety Taichung native 1. These strains were also associated with desirable agronomic characters such as short plant height, good tillering ability, medium to long grain size and translucent appearance of the brown rice . However , most of these strains headed 7 to 10 days later than Taichung native 1. 2. Most of 219 rice strains showed resistance to brown planthopper when tested under uncontrolled natural condition , indicating that brown planthopper resistance in the seedling stage appears similar to that of the adult stage 。 The rapid increase in the density of brown planthopper in the susceptible variety Taichung native 1 contrasted highly with low population density in most of the resistant rice strains. As a result, no visible damage was detected in resistant strains even when susceptible Taichung native 1 showed severe damage or developed severe “hopper burn”.
