The International Bottom Trawl Working Group (IBTSWG) met in Lorient, France, from 27–30 March 2012. There were 21 participants from 12 countries, all of whom are involved in designing and conducting bottom trawl surveys, and one participant representing the ICES Secretariat. All terms of reference have been met, details are given in relevant sections (see table of contents). The International Bottom Trawl Working Group (IBTSWG) met in Lisbon, Portugal, from 8-12 April 2013. Altogether 22 participants from 12 countries took part in the meeting, most of who are involved in designing and conducting bottom trawl surveys. One participant represented the ICES Data Centre. Terms of reference (a) to (f) have been met and progress is described in the relevant sections of the report (see table of contents). Work on ToR (g), the submission of updated manuals to SISP, is planned for early summer of 2013 in order to allow WKESST to review the manuals during their meeting in September 2013. The Joint EIFAAC/ICES WGEEL met in 2012 in ICES HQ, Copenhagen, Denmark. The group was chaired by Russell Poole (IE) and Cédric Briand (FR), and there were thirty-six participants present at the meeting from sixteen countries. Additional in-puts to the WGEEL were made by Henrik Sparholt, Poul Degnbol, Neil Holdsworth, Mark Dickey-Collas and Helle Gjeding Jørgensen from ICES. ICES has provided advice on eel since 1999. Following long-term declines in recruits (e.g. glass eel since 1980, yellow eel since 1960s) and landings (since 1960s), the urgent compilation of a management plan was recommended, aiming at a recovery of the stock. The ICES Scallop Assessment Working Group (WGScallop) met in Aberdeen (2016), Belfast (2017) and York (2018) with an average of 16 participants from 8 countries. The main terms of reference for the working group were to update and provide data and exchange knowledge on the various scallop fisheries in the Northeast Atlantic region. This included the compilation of available scallop fisheries data and the production of maps to better identify stock boundaries and inform spatial management. The WG also considered the various assessments for scallop stocks and reviewed the recent developments in the English Channel. Workshop on Age reading red mullet (Mullus barbatus) and striped red mullet (Mullus surmuletus) (WKACM2, chair : K. Mahé, France) has been held in Boulogne sur Mer (France) from 2 to 6 July 2012.
